unfortunately, I didn't hit anything. loaned my ride to my girl so i could fix hers. she was getting off of the NJ turnpike and merging with 18 (you jersey boys can attest to what a clusterf*k that area is). well, this lady in fornt of her decides she was going to merge over one lane to the left but then decides to swing back in front of my girl. gotta love jersey drivers

 

I understand why it IS NOT a total loss, It's NOT EVEN CLOSE TO A total loss. New hood/Grill/Bumper/AirBags prob. 7-9K Not EVEN close to 2/3 the value of the car.

 

I wish I had a scanner or something so I can show my car after the accident, 15,000$$$ damages, hopefully I'll have the car back by the end of next week...

 

I though airbags alone would cost like $5000!!!!!!

 

the front clip is being replaced. i think some refer to it as the front subframe. also consider just the labor in replacing the airbags and the seatbelts. you also have to look a little closer to see that the front fenders are bowed out = more new sheet metal. finally, it isn't like our cars retain their value. the average 01 cl-s has a trade in value in the low $20K range. so at this point yes, you are very close to a total loss. you're technically at more than half way to the value of the vehicle. how much would you pay for the a vehicle that's been through this?

 

If your paying 15K for that, you are getting ripped off bad. IMHO

all too often, i hear gf's destroying bf's rides, which is y NOONE, not my brother, not my folks, not my girl, NOONE drives my baby but me...if my car gets wrecked, it's gonna b through MY stupidity, not someone else's

no..i do no think this is a total either..as the fender and rims are still good..u might just need a new hood lid and grill and maybe bumper..and some engine bay repair..if the repair amount is not half of the car's current value..the insurance company will not total it... insurance companies need to make for a living too

 

Ouch that's gotta hurt. I remember back when I was 16 and I was driving a beater mazda 626 and i got a little sandwich action. Thank god It was total and then I upgraded a little to a '01 tl-s

hey, at least you don't have a prob gettin to clear the corners now, those LARGE access points now present, should make it a pretty easy DIY...

 

no one got hurt...girlfriend was just shakin up a bit...wish i could get rid of it though...just scared of how much depreciation i've already suffered from this one hit alone. my family is growing and i'd love the practicality of a TL. i'm figuring i'd be lucky to get 15K for this heap after its fixed

 

I can't believe u let your gf take your ride. One of my friends lets his girlfriend borrow his 2001 Camry and she got into 2 or 3 accidents within first couple months. I never really let anyone else drive my car. I have let my girlfriend drive it, but Iwas in the car, and it wasn't horrible driving conditions. Never really knew it cost that much just to fix the front like yours. Seems really expensive. Make sure you get more than 1 estimate.

 

If u r goin to buy a new car suggest u get a BMW. I like my CL butraaly wish i had rw drive. Depreciation is much beter also.

 

Get rid of your girl before something else serious happens.....

 

normally i'd agree with u guys but this chic can really handle a car (usually). she's scared the shit outta me a few times racing guys on the turnpike. scared only cause i didn't think she had it in her to take them. but it's all good. i gotta wait till at least my kid is born before i get rid of her...KIDDING!! (she's on this board too)
