a trick to aligning CL mufflers
a trick to aligning CL mufflers
this will help to make the mufflers height adjustable. you need a couple hose clamps, size 7/8 - 2 3/4".
remove the rubber mount for the muffler (to make it slide off easy spray it w/ some wd40)

place the hose clamp around the rubber mount, then reinstall the mount in a fashion which allows you to adjust the clamp w/ a screwdriver.

once it's back on you should be able to tighten the clamp a few turns and even out your mufflers. it also helps to cut down on the side sway that our exhaust tends to have.

Matt,
Nice post. I did this several years ago and they ended up snapping. The harsh weather took a toll on those clamps.
The best solution is to get under the car with a piece of pipe and slide the hanger bracket into the opening and bend the sucker into the right spot.

I used to have clamps like that on my car, they kept breaking. Instead I doubled up on the exhaust hangers. I went to Strauss and bought these hangers that look like thin donuts, almost like a vaccuum belt, mounted it behind the stock hanger and it kept the exhaust properly aligned, and they didn't sway much after..
