Woosh...what happened to the 2002 model yr??
I hate to make this thread longer but...F it..Does anyone know when they actually started selling the 02 models? I bought mine in October 01 and there were still 01's on the lot so I assumed it had just been released. Now I am hearing that the 03's will be available in February? 5 months isn't much of a model yr..this couldnt be right..
On another note, the new cl-p wheels look identical to the optional rims on the current gen accord. My friend has them, and all four have been destroyed by curbs..they stick out higher up on the car, but not high enough.
My thoughts on the new design:
1. Headlamps should be cleared with the new black out job
2. Was hoping for a wider, larger, more squared out, aggressive air intake on the front (i.e lose the 'smile'), kind of similar to whats on a 93' skyline gtr, or a 98-99 mitsu eclipse.
3. Wheels dont do much for me. Like the ones on my 02 better.
4. 2 thumbs up on the six speed. That alone makes me want one...due in no small part to my dislike of the flaky acura auto (note my alias).

I dunno. I saw the car at the show, and looking at the front and rear wheels head on, I could not see the wheels--only the tires. So they weren't sticking out at all, anywhere. They weren't far back inside, hard to tell exactly how much (1/8"? 1/4"?). For sure, if you grind the tires into the curb, there's a chance you get rim, but there were not protruding on the show model CL-S.

Not sure where this topic is currently going or what has already been posted (I'm out of town and using slow dial-up) but I just came back from the LA Auto Show this afternoon and about the new CL-S, other than having a sign in the window that said "Coming March 2002", that car is not different than the car we currently drive. All of the cosmetic differences mentioned here are very minor and the layperson won't be able to distinguish the new from the old. As for the manual shift, it didn't look that good to me, not at all. Sorry all you stick guys....

It has nothing to do with looks. Its about control and being connected with the road. Too bad your mommie and daddy never drove a manual. Then you might understand. Why not just drive an electric car with no transmission?

So many here are passing judgement on something they have not driven...
There was a night and day difference between the previous CRV auto vs the 5 speed - it was as though the car grew and extra 40 hp and 20% better cornering ability even though the only difference was the transmission.

BTW, I've probably logged more mileage on an Acura 5-sp than both you and your wifey. Don't tell me nothing about a 5-sp, I don't want to hear it from you.

Sucks getting old, eh Ken? :P
I'll probably fall to the dark side one day. That's why I want a manual again while I'm still young enough to enjoy it. Hopefully by then someone will have an auto-clutch manual with the conventional shift gates. That would be SWEET!

My wifey is 54 and drives a 5 speed Celica GT. Neither of us have ever purchased an automatic car. You are the one who judged this new transmission by its "looks". Tired in your old age?
