P2R Intake & TB Spacer (dyno included)

Background info:

The base dyno ( in blue) was done w/ Comptech Intake + all my other mods. The second dyno on the chart was done with P2R's intake and TB spacer + all my other mods. The last dyno was done with tweeking of the apexi.

I do not know the pricing yet, but I'm sure when that information is available Excelerate will let you guys know! I can also tell you that longer breather hoses will be needed.

Damn, is this dynojet dyno of yours supposed to vary so much from the dynocom industries dyno that P2R used for your car whennthe plenums were installed? Then you hadover 210wtq, what happened? Now the base dyno with those plenums is below 195tq.

Either way congrats on the new parts, so whats up with the torque dip after 4K, almost seems like a malfunctioning IMRC dip that they tuned out which I can work, since I had that done a long time ago. your high end doesn't seem as bad if it is indeed the IMRC not functioning, most J32's that have the IMRC go out never see their torque go up like its supposed to even in VTEC.

Anyway interesting dynos no less

PS Are you running your stock cat and catback?

Thanks.

Yeah, I was suprised in the diff in numbers between the two dynos, it was also a lot cooler when I got dynoed w/ the plenums

The dip was because of an mal-adjustment w/ the apexi which appeared to be vtec related.

Yes, stock cat and catback.

BTW, the new intake sounds throaty and deep at WOT, and to me, as quiet as the CT icebox was at crusing speeds.

Change out your b-pipe at least or everything for that matter. If your trying so hard to get NA power then why not. Why wasn't the mal-adjustmenet there before on the previous dynos, was VTEC not tampered with at the time, VTEC unmatch? You should port and polish your IM plenums, since your going for every little bit or at least it seems that way to me.

Thanks.

C'mon man...read the thread title lol . It's P2R's Intake, mine is the unfinished (which means not polished or anodized) test version since I am the first person testing out their intake for an Automatic.

Nice! Are you still getting vibrations/noise from the mounts? What were your gains from the plenums alone?

Excelerate sells the plenums for $600 shipped (last time I looked) and the intake's pricing has not been released yet.

Which part of the install were you asking about? Sean did the install for the plenums. His friend Stephan at STP motor sports did the intake and TB spacer in about 10 minutes from start to finish while the CL was on the dyno.

Yes, just the noise really under load, it sounds pretty bad ass under WOT though, so it doesn't really bother me. Vibrations aren't too bad at all, the women that have been in my car since, have complimented me on how comfortable the car is

Yeah, I might do some of those things in the future, but as for now, the rest of my $$ is going into savings. That is a good question and I don't know the answer, the settings on the Apexi were exactly the same as when I left Sean's shop.

Sean gained 7whp with his P2R intake over his old AEM in his CLS6 and supposely Comptech has slightly higher gains over AEM/Injen, so I would have to imagine so.

It slightly rubbed against the hood liner, but thats it. He could always raise the hood up a little w/ the bump stops near the headlights.

Not yet, they are still working at getting the materials cheaper to make it more affordable. P2R did tell me that they have a cheaper 3" intake for the CLS made, I'll see what he is going to do with those, and get a picture on wed.

Sorry guys, been busy with school and I came down with a nasty flu/cold, P2R has also been quite busy as well with racing events. Hopefully I'll have some more information about the 4" intake (the one dynoed) and about the smaller and cheaper 3" intake soon.

Since the filter is P2Rs own brand, do I have to contact P2R every time I need a replacement? Or is there a K&N filter that can be used as a direct replacement? Or is the existing filter washable?

Nope, it is cleanable just like a K&N, you can even use K&N's oil/cleaner.

this might seem a little late in the game, but i was flipping through threads...you said that the comptech is better than aem, injen etc. do you feel that your P2R intake is better than a comptech? i know they are expensive(comptech that is), but i was highly considering going comptech with everything on my car, but if gains are greater than comptechs maybe i would wait it out.

i was considering making my own intake this summer at a test, before i got comptechs as well, but im just curious what your take is on comptech vs the P2R

I believe the dyno says it all. The P2R is pretty quiet at low speeds (just a tad noiser than the Comptechs), but roars at full throttle. After the dyno I had the option to keep & buy the intake or to put the Comptech back on, lets just say the Comptech is chilling in my closet. For now you could always remove your stock intake resonator as compromise until pricing and etc is sorted out.
