J32A2 dyno!!!!

I know this is the CL side, but the TL side isnt big on performance... and I am. I was curious as to what my TL put down with my mods so I took her to they dyno.

Current performance mods are:
AEM CAI
Comptech Headers
XLR8 HFC
Apexi WS II Exhaust
UR lightweight pulley
MDX IM spacer
P2R IM and TB thermal gaskets

With those mods I put down these numbers 225whp/194wtq

I was expecting a little bit more but 30whp isnt all that bad since I have a 5AT

I have the 09 TL IM in my trunk im just waiting for the adapter from p2r so I can put it on and get an after dyno for that mod. Althought it wont be on a bone stock car we can still have another after dyno, since Civicdrivr was having compression issues when he did his.

First pull was in 4th gear then second 2 were in 3rd gear. 3rd seemed to be the 1:1 ratio.

Any help and/or tips are welcome!

that a bit low. hp and tq wise for those mods. what kind of dyno was it?

with the headers alone u should be around 220-230
i would be expecting around 240-250whp for an auot

in my 02 tl-s with k&n drop in filter and dc sport headers and intake resonator removed i was at 220-227whp and 205ish wtq

heavy rims wouldnt matter, if thier bigger it would throw off the numbers a bit. hooking up teh axles to a dyno is teh right and most precise way of doing it but not many shops have that kind of dyno

dynojet

those were the numbers I was hoping for...

I saw others putting out more power with less mods also. Ive taken great care of this car ever since I've had it. Is there anything I can look at for my power loss?

valve adjustment, spark plugs, fuel injectors clean, egr ports, egr debris inside the runners/ intake manifold?

that will decrease power. try putting ur stockies back on and then dyno it

valve timing was really off when I ran that dyno, forgot about that.

I got my valves re timed 2 weeks ago.
Spark plugs were done about 15,000km ago, should they be replaced? if so, what model of NGK do you recommend?
Ran fuel injector cleaner <1000km ago, which was after the dyno.
EGR ports were cleaned when the MDX IM spacer was installed.
Im not toconcered about the numbers being a little low from the rims, Im mainly concered about where the power is being lost at in my engine. But I remember last year at the track I ran a 14.9 stock w/ stock type s rims and ran a 14.7 stock w/ my 19's. Could be that I had new tires on though.

LOL . . . you'll find a lot TLers over here for that exact reason, so visit often as you'll find a lot of good stuff over here.

As for your numbers, I would agree with doing another dyno, but double check everything one more time . . unless you have lots $$ to blow. Also, make sure the VTEC actuator/IMRC are working . . . this happened to others.

As others have said, those numbers are a bit low. Take a look in the Dynograph section to see what others are putting down.

What was the weather like for these runs? Was there a cool down in between or did they do back to back to back runs?

If the VTEC acutator/IMRC is not working properly could it make a noise? I have a noise at 4k when the rpm's are coming down that i can't figure out.

yeah numbers do seem a bit low. Try to a basic tune up and run it again.

Worn cams will kill your power.

i think it all depends on the dyno. some dyno's read lower or higher then others. It might be your tranny not able to put down the power. with headers and exhaust alone you should be able to get 30whp.

haha yeah, ever since I've put visual on hold and went straight performance I've been looking over here for as many tips as I could find.

The weather was around 15C I believe and there was no cool down between runs. Even with back to back runs in third gear it stayed pretty consistent for both runs.

ummm, dont believe so. If I was I wouldve been near dundas/glen erin at the Acura dealership. Im going to try and get some pics after easter dinner, so you can see if it was me or not

this is another reason why I knew my numbers were too low. When I get it redyno'd hopefully the numbers will be a bit higher

I know my car is a god damn TRUCK I hate it too, but I quit visual until all the performance mods are done. After my 09 IM is installed ill be working on the stance of my car, see how flush I can get these rims to sit.

EDIT: The car is really dirty and hasnt had a wax since before the winter. Im going to wash it up later and take some pics with a better camera. Might have a mini photoshoot with my boys jetta

Since mine has never failed I can't say if it would make a noise, and really don't think it would. Anyway, here's a couple of links with lots of good info and the 2nd on has pics.

Damn, from your avatar you'd think that you were almost bone stock, but guess not haha

How far do you plan to take the performance side? above or below S/C and/or 6MT swap?

lol I guess i need to update my avatar!

Once my manifold goes on Im going to start saving money in a water jug towards a 6spd swap, since it seems like thats the best way to go. When I go boosted ill just blow the auto tranny and have to get a new tranny anyways. After I do the 6spd im not sure what route im going...s/c or custom turbo... might stop after the 6spd tho. All depends on what I run on the 1/4 mile with the 6MT.
