zaino question
zaino question
i just used zaino for the first time yesterday and im not 100% sure i did it right. With the clay bar, are you supposed to really lubricate the part that your doing, like so much that the clay bar just slides all over? or is the bar supposed to have a little resistance? i basically used a spray bottle and sprayed all over the part i was claying. Also, with the polish, i couldnt even see it going on unless i looked in the sun, was i not putting on enough? thanks
What color car do you have? I've got a white one and it was hard as hell to see if any is going on. I just looked really close and I could see it start to dry up almost instantly. Another way is just watch where you put it on and do the whole area, kind of like you're not really putting it on, you know what I mean?
As for the clay bar, I used like 3 bottle fulls of solution to do my car. Don't be afraid to use a lot of lube. The only weird thing is after a while, the clay bar will turn soggy and start to fall apart. I got 2 bars, so I just switched to the other one about half way through.

ok now im pretty sure i did it right cause my clay bar fell apart too. i have a silver car, i was thinking thats why i cant see it. it just seemed like to me with all the lube the clay bar wasnt doing anything but sliding over the car, it seems like it would have to have some friction in order to pick up anything.
I'm not so sure that the clay bar should fall apart. I did my car months ago and the clay bar is still good to this day. I don't know what to tell you but maybe send an email to Zaino and see what they have to say. You would know if the clay worked when you feel the surface of the paint and it is very smooth.
I'm curious to know what the answer is also.. When i clayed my car i found that the bar also fell apart.. turned to putty.. and marshmallow like soft and squishy.
I thought i was overdoing it with the lube.. but everyone says to use lots of it?

My clay bar did not fall apart, either.
I sprayed the surface of the car just a bit
and clayed. It pretty much glided over the car as if it was doing nothing. I would only spray a bit (like a square foot) and It was obvious if I was claying outside the area because of resistance.
However, if I looked at my claybar it was obviously picking up stuff off my car. It was getting a bit brown/grey (versus bright yellow)
My claybar did not fall apart either. I assume either you were using too much lubricant, or the surface of the car was too hot and it was melting your bar.

too much lube? i was under the impression you could never use too much. mine basically got soggy from so much lube and started falling apart. i just took both hands and pressed it together again and the water got squeezed out
