I suppose it’s great to brag about freebies from mommy and daddy, but I would be more impressed if you earned the funds to pay for it yourself like many other young drivers here have done.

i have to agree w/ Shawn. you'll appreciate the car more if you got it your self w/ your hard earned money. I look at my car everyday and realize how far I've progressed w/out help from my parents. gives me a good feelin inside everytime.

Yeah that's great that you would be more impressed. I think anyone would be more impressed. But he's lucky to have a car like that at 16 and it's good that he appreciates it.

I agree with you, you only really appreciate your items when you pay for them yourself. Not with your money that mom and dad gave you, but with money you earned. At 22, I am probably one of the youngest to own a CL, but I look at it with pride, knowing I paid for it with my manual labor.

So lets ammend the questions. Who's the youngest CL-S driver that paid for it with their own hard-earned money?

Heck, I'd like to know who's the oldest CL-S driver that got it as a "freebie"??

wooo hooo! back on the site since i got to school. well, i turned 19 on Dec. 11, so i dunno if i still qualify considering i'd be an old timer to some people. anyway, i pay for my car fair and square. no help from mommy and daddy, just their great credit score. anyway, all they pay for is insurance. i work hard for my type S!

I disagree... simply because parents gave their kid somethign doesn't make it a bad thing... My father paid for my college... He put the down payment for the CL and I paid the rest. I had some stock in Exxon since highschool graduation so I had enough to pay for this car. Too bad the heater doesn't work.

All,

Let's not blame the kid for receiving a gift from their parents. How many of you would have said, "No thanks Mom, I'd like to keep driving this honda beater until I can afford to purchase a new car all by myself." That would be a hard one. If you want to beat someone up, get their parents email addresses and go there. I will also tell you as a parent that spending money on your kids is easy and right if you know that they are going to be responsible with it and that it will not ruin them. Part of a parents job is to make their kid's life better than theirs was, the other part is kicking their ass!

And yes, as soon as my son was responsible for owning a car, I bought him a big blue FORD 350 Pickup wit big knobby tires - brand new......at Radio Shack for $40 cause he's 7. got yah!

Congrats on your purchase brat...

Most kids who get this kinda car this young end up getting tanked and totalling it. Hope you're careful, kid.

well, i think there's a problem with blatantly announcing that mom and dad bought you a brand new 30k car and wanting everyone to know that yours was free. all my mom did was give my 5k towards my car although the highly dissaproved of it. my dad wouldnt even step foot in the dealership. my mom had to just to sign all the paperwork. at the same time even though i'm paying for it, it's still technically her car. i never say "but it's my car, i pay for it" cuz then her response would be "then put it under your name and pay insurance". anyway, it's cool if parents can buy you a car, but don't announce it. mom woulda bought me a new cheaper car, but i wanted my cls! i have two cars now so i'm happy, one for school and one for play. and i can say i've paid for both of them. either way they are paying $16k a year for school!

My advice: take really good care of the car - if you crash it, I'll bet the party will be over fast. Also, do your Dad proud and graduate. (Remember, you graduate for your Dad and get married for your Mom.)

Married for mom, and graduate for Dad... that's not bad... I never thought of it that way. It makes sense though.

I can not help that my father died when i was younger. And i can not help that he had money either. So i guess this car is a present from HIM, even though he wasn't here to give me the car, he was still able to provide me with this nice gift. My dad loved cars too, considering his 925 Turbo, his Jaguar, and His 2 Auston Heeles**sorry about spelling** im sure he wouldn't of minded getting me this car. So for all of you "HATERS" (as people my age would call you) (which means you hate on people that have more than you, or have what you want) dont be mad @ me, just be happy for me

WOW.....This one got HOT quick.

JdtypeS,

Sorry to hear about your dad, but that doesn’t give you just cause to come here and rub it in our noses about how you’re only 16 and have a shinny new car and no payment book.

I’m not a “HATER” and I’m definitely not jealous BUDDY.
I may be an old fart at 33, but I have a beautiful wife, a nice home with over 150,000 in equity and plenty of $$$$$ in the bank.
I could buy all of the same toys your late father had, but I’m waiting till later in life to spend all my money on the worlds worst investment….CARS.

Welcome to the forum and hopefully you will participate in some of the less-hostile threads here.

Peace dude,
Shawn S
