You MUST READ THIS!
Please stand about 15 feet from the back of your CL/CLS.
Kneel a bit to view the mufflers. You will notice that the freakin' RIGHT MUFFLER (tip) is hanging LOWER than the LEFT. If you look underneath the car, you'll see the rubber hangers used to hold the muffler up (there are 2 for each muffler).
Notice the LEFT rubber hanger is shorter than the RIGHT.
I bought this $30,000+ automobile and I freakin' want to have the mufflers line up. That is freakin' retarded because it looks as if the RIGHT MUFFLER is somehow messed up.
If you look at other dual exhaust automobiles (Honda Accord V6, Lexus GS400/300), the tips line up/level off consistently.
Anyone know why the muffler on the right is lower than the one on the left? I drove by my dealer to confirm whether it's just my CLS that has this "problem"...but ALL the dealer CL(S) have that same inconsistent muffler-alignment problem!

I don't really care if there is a legit reason for that...but come on, why would you want a muffler that hangs lower than the other? You paid $30k+ for the car...and shit like this shouldn't be.
I demand a recall on those freakin' rubber hangers!

I FREAKING dont care! For $30,000 you could've bought a C240 if you wanted to but you chose the CL-S. People complain about this and about that c'mon if you wanted a perfect piece of machinery, instead of buying a hopped-up Accord you should've gone for the C240/C320 or the 325/330i, etc. etc. So FREAKING there!

I've noticed the same thing. Dealer said he would bend the hanger post. I'd rather find a shorter rubber hanger for the passenger side. I thought this was an east coast problem, most of the pics from the left coast i've seen did not have this problem.

Sunday morning I was up early and went to the Albuquerque dealer (Yes to drool and salivate). They had about 5 CLS lined up and I too noticed the right side hang down problem. While they all varied in how much they hung lower, it was very easily noticed as I approched from the rear of the vehicles. This is a sharp car but that one little thing makes it look sloppy from behind. I would not and will not tolerate it when I take delivery. Get it fixed!

I have been fighting my dealership for 3 months for the same problem. They want to change the "B" pipe for the 3rd time. They still don't really know how to fix it. One time I had it "fixed" they said it was normal compared to other CL-S'. I told them it looks like you have more than just 1 car to fix then doesn't it. I will spare you the on going arguements. Good luck........

Well, went to 2 Acura dealerships and asked them to fix that muffler hang-down problem. None of them had a clue why it hangs lower. One dealer even said it's because it's for heat dissipation...whatever.
I asked the parts dept. to check on the rubber hanger and it turns out that there are 5 total rubber hangers. ALL ARE THE SAME EXACT PART. I would think there are 2 different rubber parts but it's all the same.
After buying 2 of them for $2.50 each, I went home and installed the new one. It helped a bit but I now know why it hangs lower on the RIGHT muffler than the LEFT.
I believe it's alot heavier on the RIGHT side. Don't ask me why but I guess the car was made that way....it's a flaw if you ask me. It's much heavier and with lots of driving over bumpy roads, it will pull on the rubber hangers alot more...and you'll get an increase in drop on the RIGHT muffler over time.
I don't have a clue how to fix this but it bugs the shit outta me. Now it's better since i got the new rubber hangers in place of the old one. Just waiting to see when it will sag down again.
Bottom line is you should give a shit. You paid $30+k for the car and something like this should not happen. This is a problem!

I like mine crooked, in fact I paid the dealer extra $$ to make it even more so. I think it symbolizes class and distinction, I mean if I wanted a car with tail pipes that were even, I would have gone to another manufacturer--just like anyone else. Be proud of your crooked til pipes and sprt them with pride, next time you see someone, say in an IS300 in your rearview extending his middle finger and yelling to himself in his car--he's not trying to display dis-respect; he's saying "Damn, those crooked tail pipes sure do look nice......"
