You gotta be kidding

I went to Costco today to get my tires rotated. They refused to said my front tire tread is gone. Then went to Tire Plus and they wouldnt either. Said the tread is gone and I need two new front tires immediately. I am extremely frustrated because I only got 8800 miles out of two stock michelin touring tires! There has to be some defect with the tires or something, because this is unbelieveable. I am going to call my dealer now. Since I will have to get new tires soon anyway, can someone give me the best 235/45/17 tire for performance/treadlife/closest to stock.... and same for a 215/50/17. I really do not feel like dishing out money for new tires after 8800 miles, these tires suck.

We've had reports of people getting over 60,000 miles on the OEM tires. Didn't you feel anything when on smooth pavement? Didn't you notice them going away?

Don't bother contacting your dealer.............Your tires are underwarrenty from michelin, and they will just tell you to contact them

I think I got over 50k on one of mine...the rest had been wrecked at various points. Damn curbs and potholes.

Here are the pictures of the tread left, I should have taken better pics though.
http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/nhl2night...src=ph&.view=t

I cant believe I was told I need new tires with only 8800 miles on them. Do I call up Michelin and explain to them that the tires only lasted for 8800 miles and should have lasted way longer, and then ask for two new front replacement tires for free. How do I approach Michelin in order to see what was the real problem here.

both sides?

either your toe is extremely out of wack, or you have a bad set of tires.

Yes I will admit that I am a decently aggressive driver, but I do not squeal my tires that often, and dont really do full out acceleration from lights. I would expect at least 20k though, my dad has a carrerra and he drives it pretty hard, getting around 12k.

I guess its time for me to find a partcipating michelin retailer around here, and get i inspected for limited warranty for irregular tire wear. Thats what it says when I called michelin, I must go to a retailer first. Im gonna do whatever I can for 2 new front tires, cuz I dont have the money right now for 2 new ones.

ALright I spoke with Michelin, they said there is no warranty based on mileage. The guys said I need to bring it to a michelin retailer for an inspection, and then go on from there. He also said that if the front 2 are worn but not the back, usually theres no problem with the tires. So it basically looks like I am screwed, I just cant imagine that all my tread is gone after 8800 miles, it just isnt right. I guess Im gonna have to bring up my client base a little for some extra money

i cant be live you wore out your stocks so fast i got 40k on my stock, and i even took it to do some track driving. I bought new rims and tires and gave the old rims and tires to my friend and he's put another 15,000 mi and still going. i would say he's got at least another 4K to go be for he needs new ones and he drives like a bat out of hell.

good luck with your next set.
Did you have it droped? if so the cambers off. sound like you need a camber kit.
if not you need an alignment bad. do it before you drive one your new set.

Car is completely stock, it seemed to be aligned correctly when driving....this really sucks considering I dont really have much money to spend on better than stock tires . If what you say is true that he drives crazy and is gonna get 20k on used tires, there has to be something wrong. How can I be pushy enough to get something done by michelin or the dealer.

This is not a alignment issue, and there is nothing wrong with the car, I can not figure out why these things are worn so prematurely, and I dont tihnk there is really anything I can do though . Any thoughts on how to work on michelin to get something done?

MY guess

When you go in for your inspection of the tires you might get lucky and the Fat dough boy rep might give you 25% off your new tires.. But they are so over priced it is pathetic.. Time for some Sumitoma HTR+'s or you can buy my stock Michelins off of me.. PM me if interested.

i dunno how you guys do it... but on ALL THREE OF MY ACURAS

1 TL and 2 CL-S... my stock tires havent lasted more then 15K

Well let me rephrase that... theyve lasted... but the tread was extremely low on all of them at 15k... to the point where handling was def compromised.

If you never rotated your tires before 8800 miles and you drive aggressively... 8800 isnt too shabby out of these piece of shit tires.

Hm.... That is weird how everyone gets such good mileage and then you get about 15k soopa. Maybe we are just more aggressive drivers than we think? I guess its time to just move on to new tires..lookin at the continental contiextremecontact

Get the Sumitomo HTR+ in the 215/50/17. Can't go wrong with them. Super tires.

I had around 18K on the stock tires when I tool them off. I never rotated and the front had some life left in them. I figure I would have gotten around 40k out of them. Maybe. But 8800 is just ridiculous.

I should have taken those tires off first thing anyway. Not sure what Acura was thinking when they picked those as the OEM.

Right now I drove where the road was a little wet, and I pushed the car a little and the car gripped fine. I guess I still have maybe 2-3k left before they are completely bald. I am wondering thought if I should just get somebody to rotate these tires, but then in the rain I may not have any traction on the back tires and hydroplane?

omg renegade, i drive the shit outta my car and my tires arent nearly as bad as yours
Exactly I know you guys drive just as hard as I do and get many more miles. When I take it to Tire Kingdom tomorrow for the warranty inspection I doubt they will find anything wrong. My car seems to be aligned fine, and I always have the correct tire pressure in them. Plus since Im going by myself and I am a kid, I do not tihnk I will get much respect.

Why not 235/45/17 or 225/45/17? I just want great handling tires with good tread life and to get rid of the darn squeals that I gave around every corner with these stockers.

Hmmm.... I just happen to have 2 OEM 17" tires that I bought from JZ 2 years ago. Wanna buy 'em for a $100 for both?
