Yellow Mustang GT vs my slow CLS

So I am at a light and this bright yellow mustang gt (1996-1998??) pulls up next to me. There is three guys in the mustang and they roll down the window and say "Flawless Racing huh?" I reply with a "yep." (yeh I have my sticker on the side of my car) **laughter from them** The passanger does " so you run?" I reply "Uh yeah but only a safe race. " "You want to run us?" "Sure but don't run me off the road and dont beat me that bad." The window goes up.

Light turns green.

Both of us lay rubber and then its on. We were even for about three seconds until I start to walk. How do you spell spanked? By the time I shut it down I was three to four car ahead. I can only imagine what he was telling his friends. I missed second or he got the jump. Fact of the matter he got own3d. Next light.

I wait for him to jump because I think it would be funny to walk straight past him. Well no go. The passangers did not even look my way to read the Flawless Racing sticker again.

Feels good to put someone in there place especially in front of their friends. Not saying the GTs are slow but he got own3d. I have no respect for jackasses like these guys. Hopefully they will have more respect for the CLS and not think they are going to race a riced out civic.

Re: Yellow Mustang GT vs my slow CLS

Haha.... good job. That's pretty hilarious, considering the 96-98 Mustang GT has less horsepower, weighs WAY more (with the 3 passengers) and probably didn't run too well. Maybe he thought his powerful V8 would make up for his lack of horsepower and his fat ride.

I think they have 260 H.P. also. I dont think their wieght is that far off from the cl-s' either. The people in the car would weigh it down some though

from 95-98 the gt only had the
4.6L 225 hp V8 , 286 @ 3500 RPM torq
Weight -Manual (lb.)-3312
Gt-Convertible-3478

the 99 mustang gt got the horsepower upgrade to 260

good kill bent09 nothing is better than wiping the smirk off the faces off a couple of dicks.

Hmm I must have the slowest CL-S around

Today on highway I raced a Mustang GT convertible... from 80mph-110 I had 1 passenger weighed about 130lbs and pretty much the mustang pulled up beside me and I sped up too but I just can't pass him.. and he slowly pulled a 1-2 cars length in front of me at around 110-115mph... Are mustangs faster than our CL-S? or does a 130lb passenger makes that much difference? that person in the Mustang only had himself.

Also, 0-60mph are they fater cars than CL-S? I know the Mustang GT had about same HP as the CL-S but I think it had like 300+lbs of torque right? Man I got pissed that a $25k crap pulled one on me...

Was the GT you raced a new one? Because they should pull off a low 14s in the quarter while a 2001 type s can run mid to high 15s. Once you get your CAI you can break into the 14s. You can not say the GT's are not fast cars because they are. Just give it time and mods and you will run with them.

Haha, NICE!

I've been meaning to get NOS put in my Bimmer, but I'm too chicken shit the 4.4 motor may get damaged...too expensive to fix if it does.

So your engine does not get hurt key points:
1. Know the bottle pressure
2. Engine must be warm
3. Don't spray in first and never redline!
4. Don't just drive normal and then punch it with it on.
5. Don't spray all the time. Thats the hard part.

bent09,

I like your setup, so did you have to spray to beat that GT?? and do you know the HP difference between a 75 and a 50 shot? I really want to add this, but I'm still a little scare about the long term effect to the motor.

Either way, nice KILL!!

I did not spray. My bottle is to cold. I looked at my gauge and it was around 600 psi.

50 shot is approx. 50 horses and 75 is approx. 75 horses @ the right PSI. When I am at the track it is up to 75. If you are going to run nitrous I recommend NX because it is a wet kit. I WOULD NOT RUN A NITROUS SYSTEM THAT IS DRY. Wet kits spray fuel and nitrous into your intake thus decreasing the Nitrous to Fuel ratio.

Can't wait until I get my headers in and then see what it can do.

That's interesting.. now I really have heard them all.. Some people tell me that dry kits are safer for cars, and now you are saying the wet kits are better.. I really not sure what is good anymore..

It really depends on how your air/fuel ratio is going, sometimes you can either run really rich/lean when running a dry kit...running a wet kit is safer due to fuel and nitrous going instead of just nitrous....ive got a dry kit on mine and when i dynoed it, found to be running perfect...its not always gonna turn out like that, but i got lucky.

As far as the shots, ive got a 100 shot on their now, and its supposed to give you 100hp at the crank, the dyno showed approx 55wheel hp w/75 shot, which isnt bad...right now i should be putting about 305 to the wheels, but i'll find out later when i go back to the dyno......

Yes, the Mustang GT I raced is a new one 2001+ model. I felt so bad that a Mustang pulled on me... when that mustang pulled on me I wish I had an S2k or a 350z or maybe even a corvett.

Yeah, the '99+ Coupe would have beat you even harder. 260hp/302torque in a lighter ride... fix up your ride with more go and less show, and you'll be able to run with the GT. Unless they're thinking the same thing and are fixing up their ride too... =)

I like running GTs and getting my ass whooped by LS1s. I can't wait until they miss a gear! Why be scared you have nothing to lose.

Actually my ride have no shows, everything I done to it has been performance related... Mostly suspension, believe it or not my car riding on 235/40/18's takes corner so much better than stock with the new kumhos and the best part is I have zero rub and the tires are flush with the fender wells

I do have an auto. I was using the ss but there was no need. My car was not stock but I did not spray. I had just my intake and exhaust and I still walked.

I only paid 23k for mine! LOL...If you think you were pissed, you should have seen the guy in the Jag XK8 whom I walked... now that was just too funny!

You should take it in stride (after all...your car IS better...just not faster). My most entertaining "run-ins" are when the other guy gets all mad at my 13 sec "rustang" beating his 14+ [insert more expensive car here].

I do have to admit that Mustangs are pretty fast for the $$, I think only maybe a camero cost less and is faster? I guess CL-S is not made for speed. It is made more for comfort and is pretty good on performance for a near luxury coupe. Still I hate people passing me. Maybe I should save up and one day get an BMW M5... that way I will have comfort, and true performance
