year -- model comparison for CL's
I know this is kinda a broad question but I here goes nothing
I have narrowed down the potential new car list to 2001-03 CL. Now the question is what are the differences between the years?
Also between the 2.3 and the 3.2, s-type/ no s-type?
I test drove a 2003 3.2 stype and am in love but I am wondering if I could save some cash upfront and funnel it into aftermarket parts.
thanks for the help

IMO, your main decision is between the 2003 Type S 6 speed manual shifter and the 2001-2003 automatics, Type S and non S. They all had the same 3.2L engine, features, options. Buy the S type- 260 hp. The only option is the Navigation.
01-03 had very few differences. Again, the main change was in 03 the 6 speed manual was offered. That's what I bought and that's what I recommend too. If you want to get the most out of this engine the manual is the only way to go. The automatic trannys were not trouble free.
The 01s are almost out of warranty but Acura extended the tranny warranty to 100,000miles because of the problems. Some owners have had 2, 3, even 4 trannies put in.
Not many 02s were sold. There are lots of 01s. Fewer 03s, and only 2600 03 6 speeds.

01-02 basically the same, i think u get body colored side mirrors.
type-s only on 01-03 models
03 has the 6 spd as well as auto, also body colored front grille (trim) as well as blackhouse headlights, nicer key fob (02-03)...... no foglights on the 03.
I think 03 has brushed aluminum trim on the interior as well.
Pretty sure theres more, but these are at the top of my head.
I would get the 03 6spd if it were my choice....

CLS 6MT Navi
01,02 CL premium - 225hp 16" rims, automatic only.
01,02 CL Type S - 260hp, 17" rims, perforated leather, white gauges, automatic only.
2003 - Added, anthracite color, new silver interior trim with black leather, body colored mirrors, red and white tail lights, no roadlamps in front bumper.
2003 Type S only- 6 speed manual offered, new 17" rims.
may be some other differences, most are minor between years.
Type S, 6 speed, and Navi are the biggest differences to chose from IMO.

If you can't drive a stick don't buy a CL-S!!!
The transmission might just decide to throw you through the windshield. If you do buy one be sure to buckle up, it can happen at anytime!!!

TYPE-S NOT S-TYPE, it annoys me when people talk about the Acura, but sound like they are talking about the Jaguar...
Buy the manual tranny. I bought it and didn't know how to drive it, worth the time and effort put into learning. I test drove the auto, but it is not as much fun as the manual. My problem now is when I get into an automatic my left foot goes for a pedal and if it hits one, anything not nailed down goes flying.
