I was on this straight away road (basically 145th st. Near aurora) and I was with my friend at the stoplight. Long straight road which dips down a bit and then up a low grade hill..but not after maybe 1/3 mile north.

Well, this dude in his souped up 17 or 18" inch BBS style rims and a huge ass agressive spoiler pulls up to my right at the same stop light. I said to my friend, look at that what a souped up RX7. It was very nice since the body of the car was dentless and it shined forest green.

Anyway, the light turned green and I didn't move until 2 seconds later....I didn't place to race but the ass in the RX7 sure did...until he was stopped by another redlight.

So this time at the 2nd redlight with NO TRAFFIC ahead of us both (and no cops I was crossing my fingers), I said to my friend, let me rape this bitch in his RX7 stick shift. My friend doesn't know much about cars and he broke out, "fuck you, he will beat you!". I'm like, bitch, just cause you drive a integra GSR doesn't mean you know jack shit about shifting. I said, "it's all about the driver".

Anyway, I said, "watch me fuck this guy up the ass". The light turns green and with my SS mode on, I gun the fuckin' car. I can hear the RX7 gun it too cause of his loud ass engine. Anyway, I was in 1st and to make the story end nicely, I fuckin' beat his ass cause my friend was like, "I was looking at him along the way and I saw him behind you all the way to the 3rd redlight!".

hahahaha what a dumb ass...when the 3rd light turned green, I paused for about 3-4 seconds...and then I saw his nice green RX7 zoom on up the slightly inclined hill.

Anyway, I thought I'd share that shit with ya'll..just to let you know it ain't all about the car's power. And also, this RX7 wasn't turbo I don't think cause I didn't hear any GT3 "wooosh" sound. I was happy since he did a ricer fly-by and he ain't want no more cause I will cum in his face!!

i beat a turbo Rx7 ...but to be fair...the first light who ever driving stalled it...so i assume they couldnt drive for shit...

 

may be the rx-7 was auto and needed some major tuneup? or had some extra weight in the turnk or mis shifted?

 

Consensus: All things being equal, a CLS cannot beat an RX7.

But shit happens. Could've been RX7 dude's first day driving stick. Rev all the way up, but doesn't release the clutch...

Yes, I have hit puberty. Yes, I beat an RX7. No, I don't own an IS300. Yes, my CLS is stock except for springs/sways.

u were racing with FC or FD RX-7?? if with FC u might win..for sure.but with FD..:o 2 turbo and mods..i do not think so..maybe he just does not want to race...slightly mod for FD RX-7 can have over 300HP and manual...u will not have a chance

 

Not to say we ain't showing love to the CLS. Its a great car, but i personally think it ain't the fastest thing in the world, and there are alot of the cars on the street that car beat our car, even if we had exhaust and CAI. But when i hear stuff like beating a carrera, rx7, supra and so on, its very hard to believe. When I was stock i got killed by a heavily mod Jetta, and even with the CAI now i still don't think i can still beat the Jetta...

you can mod any car to beat just about any car...if you have the money...if this jetta wasnt a turbo...all you probablly need are tires at this point...our car is quick out of the hole but not if you sit there spining the tires...

I have a 3rd gen and I'll race ya. I have both the CLS and 7 so I know both cars pretty well. I'll give ya a 5 car lead too.

 

Ive raced an 89 Rx7 (turbo) auto with blow off valve (LOL!). Thought I would get my ass handed to me but what do ya know. It was a dead even race until third gear when I started to pull on him. He had a passenger but that still doesnt explain it. I guess his car needed tuning. As for his upgrades... All I could account for was his blowoff valve (swoosh!)

Does anyone feel that their motor is running better than most other J32's??? I broke my car in perfectly (first 5000 miles no revving, afterwards I drove my car very hard) every 3000 miles oilchange religiously... I have had absolutely no problems with my motor or transmission and I love the way my car drives. My friends say I was blessed with a good car from the dealership ;D

in other words what im saying is that these 2 aren't even close, worst case senerio it was a auto rx7 (by the way the 3rd gen rx7 were all twin turbo) even if it was stock its 2 autos 1 with 260hp and the other with 255hp racing...that could have been a close race exept for the fact that the rx7 is RWD where the cl is FWD and the rx7 also about 7-600 pounds lighter.

in fact, I thought he specifically said he didn't race a turbo car, which would rule out the 3rd gen altogether, right?

the generalization that our cars can't beat an rx7 is really only valid with the 3rd gens. sure, the 2nd gen turbo II cars can be made fast, but the normally aspirated 1st and 2nd gen cars are pretty slow in terms of straight line acceleration relative to the type s.

I should let this shiet go but some of you can't believe what you were reading...but let me RECONFIRM THIS AGAIN:

The dude in his riced up (but really nicely done) FOREST GREEN RX-7 was indeed a manual tranmission driver. His car did roll back and creep forward. To add to that, you can visually see him shift since the fuggin' RX-7 I was racing was so damn low.

ALSO, HE WAS RACING. Why else would he TRY to accelerate as fast as I did? And after the 3rd light, the dude did a big ricer fly by cause I embarassed his piece of shit RX-7.

And come on, how come you guys can't catch on to the fact that it may have been DRIVER ERROR? That's what I tried to convey to my buddy sitting next to me...that I can smoke his ass cause he may be a piece of shit driver.

An RX-7 is not a super car. And what is so hard to believe...I'll put it this way: On a good day with good traction and good shifting of the autostick on the CLS, the CLS is indeed a FAST CAR. It definitely is not SLOW. I don't know what generation the RX-7 was but it was one of those new ones not the ugly ass old models...that I know for sure.

A kill is a kill...lucky or not lucky, I beat his shit down like a honda civic!



PS- the autostick CLS is gone...I'll meet that punk ass dude in my new 6 speed...with headers. Let's see how well he can do in his RX-7.

Did it look like one of these? If it was then it's a twin turbo. The single turbos are even faster. I don't think even the 6 speed with headers can take one of these out unless it had a sh*tty driver or one of the turbos were blown. Maybe he pulled a flybye cause his turbo needed to spool up?

 

This thread is as ridiculous as the one about beating a 300ZX TT. I agree with DDT-TypeS's comment that it was driver error. IT MUST HAVE BEEN. A 3rd gen RX-7 is a monster car, even when stock. It's got 2 turbos and about 300 hp. It's RWD, stick and light as you can imagine. The thing had one of the stiffest suspensions ever for a mass produced street car. Heavily modded ones are even more amazing. Basically, the only way a CL, P or S, could think about running with one of these would be if the RX-7 had two blown turbos, was carrying a load of bricks, had four flat tires, was being used for driver's ed, or had a driver with both arms and legs in casts.

A kill is not a kill. I passed a Ferrari 360 a few days ago. It had just parked. But, of course, it's all about the driver and that guy was too lame to think to turn the key and step on the gas. Hey, a kill is a kill, lucky or not lucky right?

Yes, the CL is a pretty fast car. Everybody who is lucky enough to own a CL-P or better yet a CL-S should be very happy and satisfied. However, it did not, does not, can not and will not run with a 3rd gen RX-7.

 

No Way in hell it beat a gen 3. That thing weighed 2800lbs. Rotary engine, 255 hp and DO NOT GIVE ME MY CAR HAS 260 HP ARGUMENT

0-60 in low5s a R1 got a 5.5 I think. Mind u in 2k2 most of these cars are MODDED.

255hp on a car that weighs less than 2700lbs. is damn near a supercar. If this guy was running anything over 15psi boost (ALL 3rd gen RX-7's are twin-turbo) then he'd be getting whiplash everytime his second turbo spooled up.

Don't be mag racers. Everybody knows the rx7 is one of the greats in the pantheon of super cars. However, in a race driver error, extra weight, slipping clutch, bad seals, bad turbos etc., will cause you to lose. If they both were racing then it's a fair kill. If the rex driver didn't go all then the CLS still won because there are no excuses when racing. UNless some idiot pulls out in front of you there are no excuses.

 

I disagree....If the driver wasnt trying then IT WASNT a kill. My friend has a Z06 and I have run him a couple of times for fun. Guess what I beat him...Oh yea I forgot to mention he was short shifting at 3.5k. I dont consider that a kill or would I brag about beating a Z06.

No as for beating a RX-7 turbo, I find it to be BS. As people have said, It is hard finding a BONE stock RX because people tend to mod them. Same thing with Supra TT's, all the ones I see tend to have at least a BPU on them.

Coming out of a toll booth, I ran away from TurboSupra's TT. Mind you, his syncros are fucked up and he grinded 2nd and 3rd...Shit like that I never count as a kill. You don't count mistakes.

I'm not gonna go around town saying my 15 second car beat a Supra TT. That would just be absurd.

 

Agreed, driver error resulting in a "kill" may count for personal bragging rights among a buddy or something like that, but it's not a kill you should go spouting on message boards.
