Yakima question?
Thinking of getting a Yakima roof rack for my CL-S. It would be used to carry one or two bikes. Do I need the Q-Strech Kit?

Just say no to roof racks on a CL. I had one on my car for about three weeks. It was so loud and so ugly, that I ended up doing a bike rack on a small reciever hitch under the rear bumper. See my post under trailer hitch.

I've been very happy with my Yakima rack. It's very easy to put on and take off and it doesn't damage the paint. If you get the wind fairing, it really cuts down on the noise.

True it's loud, but it's not that ugly and it's much better that the trunk-type racks.
I have a set of Thule racks which I've had since 3 cars back. I onlu get the car-specific adapters I need and keep using all my other attachments.
BTW - I only install mine when I need them and then take them off.

roof racks all the way. it may be a bit loud but that's why you crank up your blows(bose) system. also, it looks cool. don't need the stretch kit. have fun.

one more thing. if you do decide on the yakima, which i think are a better product, go to www.4yakima.com they're out in wisconsin and don't charge sales tax(unless you're in wisconsin) and they pay for ups ground shipping. you can't beat that. also, they have great tech support.
