xlr8 high flow cat review(s)É
so i search for the xlrq high flow cat and I find everything about it, but what I wanna know.
I cannot seem to find another who has a before and after opinion on the whole matter.
i`m scared of losing some low rend for top end, but how noticable is it
also will i be able to pass emissions with this or no
some feedback would be greatly appreciated folks thanks

I'm not sure what the difference is in the exhaust note but this cat should make 10 hp/tq on the CL/CL-S due to the fact that the OE cat is highly restrictive.

i have every bolt on but hfc and cat back.... but full exhaust is too much to ship, mufflers cost 720 here. and if this is like 500 shipped to my door, and get me 7 to 10 tq and hp it does sound intiseing.
if i got just the cat would the rest of the oem exhaust set up hinder its ability. i have been jonesing for a next power mod for some time now and i do love the fact the cat comes with the o2 bung which is angled (i assume to give proper clearance, as straight ones often end up rubbing on the frame or heatshield.)
and sorry but what is the inlet and outlet of the cl-s cat and cell count. cause i have comptech headers which is 2.5 i believe on the outlet. which goes to the cl-s cat which does what exactly. i`m trying to figure out how inconsistent it is. thanks

Whats up with RDX owners?

The CT headers are 2.25" at the outlet, same as stock.

and i guess my last question would be i know it's not carb legal but will the car potentially pass an emissions test? cause right now my car is virtually perfect. but i don't know nearly enough to to decide whether it may or definitely will not.

3.5 psi

i think it would still pass emissions. Plus you could always keep your oem cat and swap it in before the test. I doubt the exhaust would smell. It's still a cat...it just flows much better. Smelly exhaust is from no cat.

Do they just do a visual there or do they hook up the sniffer as well?

Ugh. One of those. I don't miss that test in NY.
Maybe you should be good friends with the inspection guy so he can "cheat"?

well i just put my order in for the XLR8 HFC and vibrant J bung to get rid of CEL...
this is basically the last bolt on there is left to do to my car.
very interested in the results I will keep everyone posted
provided the car isn't too loud I may be persuaded to get a custom 2.5 inch y pipe built with a glasspack mid muffler.. we will see how she goes.
but i am dying for more power and a louder exhaust

just got it today that was super fast.
so far it was 377 for the o2 bung and HFC then i get a 101$ duty fee at the door...
so this turned out to be a half thousand dollar mod.
lets hope it does what i expect it to
quality looks amazing tho welds are perfect.. cannot complain yet

ok install is done took about an hour of leisure working.
cat bolts came right off no torching needed. no gaskets used i used that copper silicone gasket stuff and it sealed everything right up.
as for the resultss.... welll
:-) surprisingly the cat is not much louder, upon start up its not noticeable when its warm, car has a little less deep hmmmm to it when u are on the throttle down low but when u get up high is seems there is more power. car is chirping every time i go 1st to 2nd now which use to only happen under certain conditions.
i think its apparent the car is faster now... i'm happy the car is not much louder at all, when daily driving u wont even notice a difference. i got ct headers, xlr8 hfc and ct mufflers and its quiet IMHO

well the exhaust doesnt smell bad but after comparing the piping size and internals of each it's evident the HFC flows probably 2-3 times better..
there is a slight odor from the tailpipe now but it aint no fart smell. but if I can smell something different imagine the sniffer up my tailpipe..
im debating whether i should go for it and try with the HFC or just save my oem cat and put it on when i get emissions. cause i can get 100$ for my oem cat just for the metals inside it.
ps. as for the sound i think the exhaust did get louder and the motor got a lil quieter when u hit v tech. now the exhaust is hear instead of the motor overriding the not of the exhaust. all in all i think this is the icing on the cake for the exhaust and i should be done trying to find power... SHOULD B

For gaskets you can buy the one that connects to the header from advance auto. Just have them look up the gasket for the generic replacement exhaust in their system. For the rear gasket any 3 bolt 2.5" should suffice.
On the ct headers at the end where cat bolts too, they use a compression ring gasket. The gasket sits inside a lip that sticks out inside the piping making it smaller diameter. Since I am using crush gaskets instead of the rings I was able to grind down that lip which gives more flow.
I had the xlr8 HFC but switched to the xlr8 test/straight pipe. I am happy with it. A little more sound and smell which I like.
I would be very interested in seeing gains on a dyno before and after.
