Where are all the doubting Thomas' now? I am sure he isn't building them for his own car! (What, one per day???)

This is a "short air intake" not "Cold Air Intake"? Why he changed the design?

Night Hawk,

To me its look like a true cold air intake.
I went to Xephyr's site. The air filter
sits by the front wheel well. Therefore
causing the air to be pulled from the front
of the car (which is colder than the air
in the engine bay)... and a short
ram setup would have the air filter residing
in the engine bay...

By the way, I am new to this board. Has
anyone contacted Xephyr performance to speak
to them and ask about the product.

Just go to his site and look....

http://www.xephyrperformance.com/prod01.htm

The design changed at least 4 times:

The pics of the first row, is the orginal product.

The first 2 pics in the second row is another one.

The remaining pics on that page is yet a third design.

And Finally, the "Nursery Pics" are not the same as before and it is another design too!

Night Hawk,

whats the differnce, if someone changes
the design. ITs still an cold-air intake.
The first row of filter might just be
supplies ??

Did you order one ?? If not dont get
so upset... Mabey the design changes were
for the better...

This one doesn't have the turns in the tubing like the ones he has on his car. Maybe it was just cheaper in production to make straight pipes instead of twisted ones. But I think for performance the first one he showed us (one on his car and his site) will let air flow smoother and better. IMO

The design changed at least 4 times:

Xephyr: The design changed once, removing the final bend at the bottom of the induction tube.

The pics of the first row, is the orginal product.

Xephyr: Corect that was the original design and is also the production design.

The first 2 pics in the second row is another one.

Xephyr: The second row is utilizing the Xephyr Performance CAI as ONLY a "short-ram" configuration. It can be used as either by removing the down-pipe for the cold air.

The remaining pics on that page is yet a third design.

Xephyr: This was the "Pre-Production" prototype as was posted in this board. By removing the final bend at the bottom of the downpipe it removed the "Humming" that was incurred with the bend.

And Finally, the "Nursery Pics" are not the same as before and it is another design too!

Xephyr: The nursery pictures are the SAME as the configuration used on my car. The only design changes for the Type S was the inclusion of the AEM bypass valve.

The best to answer the question about design change is Xephyr, not me? I just would like to know the design is consistenly being changed.

Xpephyr,

Thank you for the clarification.

Your CAI is geting more interesting:

1) It is a CAI.
2) It is a "short ram" too.
3) It has the AEM valve' protection.

That is great.

What I would like to know is:

A) How does it attach to the body of the car.
B) Did you make GTECH runs in either "short ram" or "CAI" configuration with the final product.

Thanks again.

Tel1sps,

I apologize for not responding sooner , as I have been pretty busy getting this initiative under way. If you would like to come down one day next week that would be fine. I am possibly looking to have a few people come down all on the same day , possibly a mini-meet. I will post some available dates and times for next week for anyone interested. Give me a few days, as I have much to ship, order, and finalize with the new orders. Many thanks,

Christopher Koncur

Chris, are my posts being filtered? I would like to get some confirmation that my order is on its way. Maybe a tracking number, stuff like that. I know your real busy but I would just like to know either way.

I disagree. We all knew this was a startup and delays are likely. We've got someone here who is putting out a lot of effort to "possibly" make a couple of bucks for himself, and get a product to all of us that is needed. regular UPS works OK for my order.

I guess I am only saying that becuase I was told three different dates. I mean if I was told from the get go that there were going to be delays then ya I would understand. Either way I really don't mind but I would rather have it shipped faster than a 10$ money order.

I'd like to pick one up myself. I'm from Northern Jersey but I don't mind coming down to buy one from you. I would prefer it, in fact, so at least you could show me how to install it without removing the bumper.

I had sent you an email previously, I am asumming you did not recieve it?? In any event the results were obtained with the GTECH PRO. The specifics of temp , runs, etc... are posted under the Type S pages on my website. If you have any other questions email me or post here...

For all of those asking about performance gains--

Let's keep in mind a few things: this CAI and AEM's CAI and anyone else's CAI is essentially the same thing: a long tube with a filter at the end that draws in air from outside the engine bay. I don't understand why people are so interested in the specific gains of the Xephyr CAI--I would bet 10 bucks that it has the exact same gains as any other comparable intake, AEM included! It affects performance by bringing in colder, denser air than the engine would get normally. All indication point to a CAI for the CLS making around 6-10hp with a small, but significant, gain in performance--and sound! Really, if Xephyr told you the CAI made 6hp by dyno or 10 would that really sway your decision?

It really comes down to, "do you want one or not?".

Xephyr appears to be on the way to having a good product and I would be very interested in one once some of the slightly more daring members give it a shot. I'm not fooling myself into thinkg that a CAI is going to make our car a 5-second car. It's going to be a little better, may sound a little meaner , will look good under the engine bay and that's really about it.
