So I'm home waiting for the kids to get home from school. I hear the bus alarm (dog barking like a fool ) and I go unlock the front door to let them in. They had already punched the code to open the garage door. I walk out to the front and find them standing in front of the garage with the door half way up. I ask them what they are doing, and them tell me that the door stopped half way up. So we crouch and go under. From inside I hit the button. Grind, Grind, Grind, Shake, Shake Rattle STOP! The door freezes at 3/4 open. I'm thinking WTF? (Can't say it out loud, I have to be Dad now!) So I hit the button again to see if it will close properly. Grind, Grind, Grind, Snap, SLAM! The motor gear breaks loose, and the chain, bracket, gear and other parts come crashing to the floor, inches from the CL-S. ARGH!. The chain free falls, then catches and starts to swing, narrowly missing the car. In the meantime the garage door slams to the floor.

Luckily the kids were not underneath the door when it rolled back down. And I caught the chain before it could hit the car.

So it's off to Sears. I only had about an hour of freetime tonight as it was. Looks like it's gonna be a late one.

Same thing happen to my dad... He told me he heard a noise in the garage in the middle of the night he gets up grabs is trusty gun and heads to the garage, he opens the door and realizes that he left the garage door open the whole night. He look around the Garage and he sees a cat that went in and was getting into his stuff, he scoots the cat out of the garage (no he doesn't shoot him) and when he closes the garage the motor gear chain,bolts and the door comes flying down...Luckily no damage to his GS400.

So the next day he's off to Sears and buying a new garage door opener.

Moral of the Story...be careful with the Garage door openers you never know when they will break on you. (and keep them damn cat's out of your garage...you never know when the will climb up on your car &scratch the paint) Especially Cl's fragile paint.
