wrinkled front seats

Who's got wrinkled leather on the outer pads of the front seats. I think i read somewhere on this forum that someone got new leather when they brought that back for warranty. It's weird, its only on the outer part (close to the door, bottom part of seat). Both sides have big deep wrinkles. Anyone else have this problem?

Mine is not wrinkled, but streched out.... bib bubble on driver's seat, passenger is fine.
I am 170lb, so it should not have happened.
I'll complain, see if they will replace it for me.

I had my drivers seat replaced because the side pads on the seat back developed cracks in the leather. I also had my steering wheel replaced due to bubbles in the leather at the 12 o'clock position. All free...all under warranty.

Tmk70,

When you say cracks, do u mean its actually ripped , or does it look more like big wrinkles.

The outer part of the seat is vinyl not leather and it is normal for leather or vinyl to wrinkle with wear

NO.....if you have a type-s its easier to see because only the material with holes in it is leather. Only the middle of the bottom and back are real leather, same with the rear seats

They started as wrinkles, then the wrinkles became cracked.

Mine are the same way. I noticed this car wrinkled alot more, alot faster then the 02 I had. Right where your left thigh sits on the edge of the seat. Mine aren't too bad. I was waiting for them to crack, then I'll get them replaced under warranty.

fuzzy,

yep, thats the exact part I'm talkin about, on both front seats. right side on the right seat. i think i read on this forum that someone had it replaced under warranty so I guess we'll be ok.

spdy is saying it's vinyl? is that true?

For the type-s, the seating surfaces are leather, and the sides (vertical sides) minus the headrest and sides of the back are vinyl. The thigh supports that SPDY0001 says are vinyls are leather. Not all the leather is perforated, check out the steering wheel. You can feel it is leather, touch the thigh support, then touch the vinyl material beneath the thigh support above the electric adj. switch for the seat, you can feel a difference. Also, look at the top of the backseat. In the light, you can see and feel the difference of the vinyl and leather.
