You get the most performance out of the car running 93. It also fights off knocking. Our motors are high compression, use high octane.
And a CAI wont get you better gas mileage. Its letting more air into the motor, so the ECU is compensating for that by injecting more fuel so you dont run lean.

$10 these days are about 4 gallons (at least for me).
You must be beating on the car pretty hard to get less then 20mpg. Im consistently getting mid to high 20s, or 400-440miles on 15 gallons.

CAI give you better gas mileage, but only based on this fact which never happens ! you will not have to put your foot as hard on the gas with the CAI then without. there for not reving it as high and getting better gas mileage, but this never happen because as soon as you get a CAI you willl be WOT all the time, IMO

A CAI wont save gas. The air is denser, therefore the engine is sucking more air in, the ecu compensates by adding more fuel, thus more fuel consumption.
Some may see better gas mileage with a CAI, but most of the time thats because their old air filter was filthy.

No. The colder air is denser and yes more fuel is added but the RESULT of that is an engine producing more power. The additional efficiency saves fuel.

Ditto. The engine is more efficient, so you use proportionally less of the engine's power to run the same speed, which gives more mpg. However, if you have a cai, you'll want to take advantage of it with your right foot, which doesn't help mileage

and the car would still need 50 hp to cruise along wether the air is hot or cold (so same amount of fuel is needed)
and part of the reason diesels get better MPG then gas engines, is cause they have no throttle body to cause pumping losses

i had a cai, and i just switched back to a short ram, and wow, because i had the cai for some long when i put in the short ram it was sucking so much air up that its making a load ass humming noise.. maybe the ecu will fix it and suck less air up for me to save gas!

Thats not the way it works. Also with the hotter air you will loose power. Also you are in the winter months where the car is running on winter blend fuels (i get 60 miles less per tank in the winter)

I'm probably gonna have low MPG. I tend to get stuck behind dumbasses on the road. Like I'm getting on an onramp, and the car in front of me is just putt-putting along at about 25-30 MPH, so I have to slam on the gas when I finally merge onto the highway....
