Good for parts.

Things that I'd question:
1) Why was it salvaged? Flooding or fire is quite a bit different then expensive body or engine work.
2) Salvage=no warranty...and the TL comes with an automatic transmission

And almost $20K seems expensive for a car that has little resale value.

totally no, because its worthless to an insurance company and that price isn't that great. The only time i would buy salvaged is if it was a sports car that I would only plan to use as a track car.

There is no fire damage or flood damage of any kind. I believe it went through a major accident and as far as i know the accident was in the rear.

I talked to my local acura dealership who are saying that the warrenty is still valid on the car even if it is salvaged. I am confused about that because i was under the impression that the car's warrenty gets voided if its salvaged. Anyone wants to clarify on this issue. Thanks.
BTW this is for a friend of mine not mine so i am asking you guys to see what you all have to think about this.

I had a terrible experience with a salvaged vehicle several years ago. It was a '95 Civic Ex with only 4000 miles. First thing, I was told that the damage was to the front end but that it did not do any damage past the radiator. The car ran great and I was young and stupid plus I thoughht it was such a good deal because it was priced 3-4k under what others in the area were going for. After only 1 month, the car starting falling apart. I needed a brand new clutch, and it only had 5k at that point! Several other parts also failed. I finally got it off my hands after losing several thousand dollars. I will never buy a salvaged vehicle again. There is a reason that the insurance company wrote it off as a loss!! Also, 18k for a salvaged vehicle is ridiculous in my opinion. Stay away, in fact run away! If you want at TL, but can't afford to pay more, find an older one in good shape that has a clean history.

IT really depends if you know that person or not your buying it from. My uncle use to buy savlaged cars and sell them. SOme where bad and when fixed looked great but has problems.

Others were just in floods or rear ended and have no problem at all. My dad bought his NIssan Quest with only 5 miles on it because it was flooded at the dealer. Only paid 15,000 for it. While brand new was 28-30 Gs at the dealer.... Great deal.

But make sure u know the person. I got my car from my uncle, he said it was savlaged with 4,000 miles on it. But at the DMW it showed pink slip..so i came up..hehehe...i also check the record and it shows no accident at all..so i don't know what happened

ID never buy a salvage, and buying a flood car is like playing russian roulette. You never know when someday some electrical circuit is gonna short out, and cause major problems. Those circuit boards were just not designed to get submerged.

I wouldn't buy anything salvaged. It costs too much to insure.

if the car was around 5 K cheaper with salvage history but a clean title then it would be worth it.

The only problem would be if the tranny went out(like mine did) and the dealership says that you warranty is invalid(like mine did).
