What's wrong with having a "limited" edition car? We'll always be able to get it serviced and it beats Acura coming out with a new generation CL and making us first and second gen's hurt.

Not only that, but as time went by the cost of maintanance would go up.

Plus, you wouldn't be owning a "Limited Edition" car. A limited edition car is a car that is produced with limited numbers, like the '02 6-speed. Other then that, you would just have another CL and that wouldn't make it worth anything special. You would just own a car that was cut from the Acura lineup and the value would fall rather quickly.....

I don't think maintenance costs would be any different. We share a lot of parts with the TL and Accord which are NOT being killed anytime soon. But you can forget any hopes of more aftermarket parts unless they're identical to TL or Accord parts.

that is a good point. The only way you'd get screwed is if the CL was canned and as the TL and Accords got redesigned, you'd be stuck using old TL and Accord parts.

I don't think it matters anyway b/c I can't see them canning this car. What I do see is them redesigning it and being more aggressive with it so they can be a front runner instead of playing catch-up.....

I don’t want them to KILL the CL either, but now that I have my 6-Speed it wouldn’t really bother me that much.

I normally take good care of my cars and keep them pretty long.
My 01 CL was the exception to this rule because I despised the Tranny so much.
I had my 91 Legend Coupe for 8-Years and 110,000-miles.

I plan on this car seeing 100,000 from me as well.
I don’t really want to get tempted by some 2005 w/300HP and 4WD.

if that happens, everyone in the Scratched Rim Club doesn't have a prayer of replacing the rims like we have much of a shot now anyway

thats true shawn.

i dont think it will be good at all for Cl owners to kill the CL

it would be gay if the 2004 gets an upgrade and u guys have 01,02,03 that will be outdated/outpowered.

its too soon for a change imo.

Yeah, when I said "limited" I didn't mean I thought our car was equivalent to a Shelby Cobra or anything. I just meant that there wasn't going to be a 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc generation like the Accord. Maintenence shouldn't be a problem just like mdaniel said and resale value is only going to effect someone who wasn't planning on keeping the car until it dies. I agree with Shawn S, the thought of the next gen with 300+ hp and AWD would kill me.

if Acura came out with an '04 CL-S with over 300HP, i wouldn't start 2nd guessing my decision 2 years ago!! fact is at the time, we got our cars b/c of the what was then present situation...our cars were by no means the fastest on the road, but we were pretty damn fast compared to the "average" driver...we're still fast, but the "average" driver has a more powerful car, which kinda sux, but it follows the same pattern SUV's and roadsters followed years ago...the trend now is towards HP and torque...just imagine owning one of the first Z3's, then over the course of the next couple years a zillion Z3's and other roadsters were selling like hotcakes...u'd b kinda pissed, right??? this is exactly what we're facing here...even tho our cars aren't the most popular out there, our striking performance is becoming more mainstream with cars such as the Altima, Maxima, G35, WRX, etc....yes it sux, but don't forget that 2 years ago, we were beginning to define a trend that now is taking on a whole new meaning...im never gonna forget how much i love this car and how it really blends a lot of different features

ill bet that if the markets and economy picks up within the next 6 months, people are gonna start making lotsa money again, and watch to see how popular MB's AMG's and BMW's M's get in the next couple years!!

It does matter to the faithful Acura CL buyer who soon may have to break the "tradition"
