The word on seatbelts and rattles

Well, I took my CL-S into the shop this morning for some warranty work. I explained to them that the seatbelts don't seem to retract properly and continually get stuck in the door or between the seat and door. Their response, they were designed that way to prevent the buckle from slamming against the door window and breaking it. Apparently this has been a problem in the past with Hondas. You are supposed to manually feed the belt for it to retract properly.

As for the moonroof rattles, they said there is a service bulletin out and they know how to fix the problem. We'll see about that.

Hope this info helps.

One thing... tell them to make sure they dont get "goop" on the roof of your car.

They use this white lube shit in the sunroof... and it got my my roof... and its damn near impossible to wash off.

If you see shit leaking out of the top of your sunroof... make sure you have them clean it before you take the car.

My 91 Legend Coupe did this quite often, but I never broke the window.

I would rather deal with that problem instead of worrying about slamming the door on the buckle as I have almost done several times with this car.

Me too.. I can't count the number of times I have closed the door on the seat belt (and yes I can go higher than my fingers and toes).. All they'd really have to do is allow the guide to be at about a 45 degree angle from where it now swings to..

I've smacked the drivers-side window with the seatbelt in my dad's '87 Z28 many times, some quite hard, and it's never broken.

Well, the dealership just called and said they can't seem to fix the moonroof rattle. They have had the car for a day and a half already. I told them, "I don't want it back until you fix it!" Their response, "No problem. We don't want to give it back broken."

I guess I'll be driving this POS Mustang loaner car for another day or two.

The problem with the seat belt hitting the window is when you have window tinting on the window. I had tons of little nicks on my Legend from that.

Or you release the seatbelt with the door open and it hits the outside body behind the door.

Car windows are not easy to break. Last year I was in a serious accident with my brother in hut Thunderbird and the car flipped on its roof. We punched those windows and they just didn't break. You need a bar or something to break it open. A seatbelt just doesn't have the weight to break it.

Just picked up my car from the dealer. They fixed it! No more moonroof rattle! Also, at my suggestion, I had them remove the flip-up wind deflector. No more whooshing noise now when driving at hwy speeds with the roof open. I am one happy camper now, can ya tell?

You had them remove the wind deflector? does that work? You would think that it would be noisier without it.

Actually, the amount of noise is less. Before removal, the deflector didn't deflect anything. It would just vibrate up and down and make a loud whooshing noise while driving. It was very annoying. Now, the only noise is the wind coming in the roof, which really isn't that bad.
