I went to the 1/8 track with the GTX again and now I really can't wait to take the CLS. I've got the launching down quite well and the 2 spring spacers in each rear spring and the VHT sprayed on my front tires got me 2.12-2.18 60's. My best run of the night (and EVER) was a 9.051 at 78.25. Once again I was one of the fastest 'street' cars there. They had two AWESOME nitro'd stang notchbacks running 6.0 1/8 miles. Anyway, I won 2 and lost 2. Lost to a 60's heavy modded muscle car and a twin turbo 87 Stang GT. Beat a '00 Camaro SS by .06 and a Z24 cavalier by 1.8 seconds. There was also a C5 'vette running from a 9.05 as well to as slow as a 10.5 with 2.1 to 2.9 60' times (first time at the track).

With this 9.051 I should be getting 13.9's at a 1/4! Well gotta run.

Those are awesome 60 ft times! So what's your secret on the launch other than the spacers and the vht?
For reference could you post your timeslips or type them out?

I'll have all the timeslips posted up shortly, I scanned them in last night, now I just have to get them onto my cheap geocities board.

As for my launch, I don't do anything special beyond just easing into the throttle at the start. I take about 1.5 seconds to go to full throttle instead of mashing it. Also, I spin the tires for about 1 to 2 seconds to clean off any loose dirt. Too much spinning on a street tire makes it slick. I know people have run 2.0's and a few 1.9's with stock tires on rare occassions (though easier with drag radials! hehe)

I think I could pull some great 60' times with the CLS now since I'm putting down over 300 torque virtually at the start of the RPM band in the GTX. I know the stock CLS is something like 178 or so so if I can launch the GTX good, I don't think I'll have a problem with the CLS. (Same tires too! MXM4's!) So I'm hoping for some good track times. Next week should be clear and sunny all week so Wednesday looks good for a track run!

Take a guess... unfortunately I'm not going. I rescheduled my flight lesson from tomorrow for tonight. I got a pair of tickets for free from my employer to the Kentucky Derby Press Party tomorrow so I'm going to that. (Tickets are $300 and it's considered the 'premier' party before the Derby). Every celebrity that is in town already will be there along with all the other VIPs (ie horse owners, trainers, jockeys, politicians) so i don't think I'd want to miss something like this falling in my lap! I don't think I'll have time again to go to the track until after my move back up to Chicago in two weeks. So I'll have some 1/4 times up within 2 months hopefully! Ugh. I can't even take my car until then either probably! Though i have some more mods lined up already though so let's say definite high 13's, maybe even low to mid 13's by the end of this summer! hehe. (All for less than 2K total in performance mods. I'm getting a water injection system to fight KR since I'm probably going with an even smaller S/C pulley for track use). Can't wait for CLS mods to drop in price hopefully.
