Here are my impressions from my 10 minute drive.

steering: rock solid. move it 1mm in either direction and the car goes.

handling: whew! We were on a road that has a sweeping neg camber turn. My cars limit is 60mph and the tires are screaming. I took it at 60 in the S2000 and it felt like 30.

clutch: engages very quickly. Stalled it the 1st time b/c I didn't give it enough gas.

torque: none! It's not my car so I couldn't drop the clutch at 7k rmps.
when i hit 6k rpms the hotter cam profile kicked in and away we went! . actually pushed my head back a bit. I think I startled him because I took it up to 8900 rpms! screeeaammming!!

I considered buy that car instead of a CL-S but as you know they are two different types of car. I needed something more pratical with a back seat. I sure as hell would like to have one as a second car though. They are really awesome cars.

to avoid that ridiculous mark up in calif., my bro flew to oregon to buy his s2000. he drove his s2000 back to calif. going 65 mph to slowly break it in. it took his ass 12 hours to get back to the bay area!

I hope he didn't go 65 the whole time. That is what you don't want to do when breaking in a car. You want to drive at different speeds as much as possible.

Like ya guys said.. It would make a great second car. A little tuff for a daily driver, no low end, no room.

I saw a used S2000 (red/black) with 9700 miles in the paper here for $32K. Not too bad, but you can probably do better.

I'd still love to drive one of those things. They rent for about $250/day at my local Thrifty car rental. Maybe one of these days I'll splurge for it.

I went and looked at a couple the other night.

Considering it as a second car...

$450 is the lease price for 36mo/12k though... kinda steep for a $32k car.

But thats from eHonda.com... maybe the dealer can lease cheaper...

I would do it for $350/mo

Tel, I could drive that car everyday. The torque isn't that bad. I had an 80s 5 speed accord that didn't have much torque so maybe that's why i feel that way.

Gold, do it but make sure there are enough twisties to justify it.

I drove it too not so long ago. The one thing I kept saying to myself is (in the immortal words of C&D) that you gotta drive it like you hate it. Around town this car falls flat on it's face. Once the cam changes lobes that egnine come on quickly and is a blast, but there's nothing more embarrasing than driving with a wailing engine in public in anticipation of needing the power.

BTW, pictures don't do this car justice......what a beautiful shape. Definitely complex in most of the details.

He gave me a ride later today and we were taking the turns at double the posted limit.
I also raced him to 60 and he had me by ~1/2 a car length.

good evening, this is the bro of superdds and let me be the first to say, that the reason he got the Cl-S is because...he is older than dirt! I'm only kidding, but let me tell you that an S2000 is not a daily driver. If it weren't for the fact that I had another car, I would not have gotten the S. That thing is stiff as a bitch and just as loud.

And yes, I did drive <65 all the way home from Oregon. And no, I varied the speed and made frequent stops.

I must leave now for my "S" beckons me.

That's got to be one of the hardest cars to follow the "break-in rules". There's no way I could drive it that easily for 500 miles or so.

Comptech didn't post a dyno but you figure ~290+ hp at the wheels and it's ~200 lbs lighter than an NSX.
My guess would be (good driver) low 4s 0-60 and maybe high 11s to low 12s in the 1320.
