my friend is beign sold a car without title, he wanted to know if he bought it, if there was a way to get the title after he had it. we know the car isnt stolen cause we ran a carfax and went down to the local police station just wanted to know.

 

i would have the current owner of the car go get a title, THEN buy the car

 

the owner should be able to get a duplicate title from the dmv. there should be a duplicate title form on the website that must be mailed in w/ a small payment ~10 dollars. thats the way it works in cali at least.

 

It's done like that often times. Hundreds and hundreds and thousands of cars on the road with no titles in hand.

 

I just went through this on a trailer for a boat, the same rules probably apply... I had to submit for a dupe title and have the previous owner sign it. Then I submitted the dupe and transfered the title. Yes, the dupe costs up to $20.00 if not more.
