Wireless Web in cars
on Bloomberg...Microsoft and Accenture will jointly sell software and services to vehicle makers for connecting cars and trucks to wireless data networks...they will offer telematics services and programs to automakers, suppliers and wireless-service providers...Microsoft wants carmakers and telematics companies to adopt the company's .NET system for connecting wireless devices to the web and web-based services, including MSN...Microsoft also wants to sell its Windows CE operating system which has been tailored for in-car use
man, the radiation eminating from our car's in the future is gonna b HUGE
but i wonder if this kind of networking will interfere with Bluetooth technology??

wow wireless network everywhere? that would be cool. We have wireless network that covers the whole campus in my school, its pretty cool. But i heard there are no protection yet for wireless networks? IT would be scary if someone can hack into ur car and change ur radio, or mess up ur navi, or even send a signal to brake or accelerate while ur driving.

hadn't thought of that, but now that u mentioned it, yeah i agree, that would b freaky...on the flip side, how cool would it b to log into your car, start her up, drive it around like an RC car...u can take your car in for service at Park Ave. from your bedroom if u wanted...no loaners necessary, meaning more money stays within the company...works for me!!

There is some security for wirless networks. Cisco's Access Point is pretty secure but any way you look at it, your data is out in the airwaves. It's a matter of time before someone simply invents the right butterfly catcher to pull your data

The M-B TeleAid system on cars equipped with the COMAND system already lets you download news, stocks, weather, and e-mail to the cars LCD screen. True, it's one-way and slower than heck and you have to set up a personal website on MBUSA.com to manage your preferences. But it's really cool and a sample of what's to come.
