Which winter car?
Probably getting a winter car so i can sotre away my CL for awhile. Which would you choose from the 2: Lexus RX300 or Benz ML320.
I personally like the RX300 because of the exterior and the ML320 kinda looks plain... but my dads prefers the Benz...
any inputs? any other cars within the price range suitable for winter use?

Well, the RX is deffinetly more of a female vehicle, so is the MDX for that matter. ML, if newer, meaning 99 and above should be good. Earlier models seem to be having some issues and were built poorly to begin with.

Titand19, that may be true, however let me give u some inside info to all you guys....I have a good friend of mine who works in the sales staff at a Benz dealership and guess which car is the most problematic? Yep, the ML and by far....he says there is always issues w/that vehicle...I'll speak 2 him later this week to find out what it was specifically, but he told me he would rather take the lexus or acura than the ML or the X5 (lots of issues as well)

I've been doing some SUV research for my Dad as well...
This is what I've found --
RX300 - Built on a CAR chassis (from what I've been told), rides more like a minivan than an SUV. Great build quality.
M-Class - POOR build quality. I believe that someone here put it; the M-Class is the BlackSheep of Mercedes.
MDX - Great SUV. Only problem is finding an '03. According to my dealer, the wait is 3 months right now.

yeah I like the MDX a lot... the M class is really the crap of mercedes... what about the Toyotas? (sequoia and highlander) .. and X5 is beautiful but a bit pricey... if I had a winter beater it'd be a truck... maybe a Dodge Ram or an F150... Dodge has really good warranties now and 0% interest... It's alwyas nice to have atruck around in case you need to lug stuff and the extended cabs will fit 2 smal chidlren i nthe back comfortably... just put a cover on the back in the winter and it'll be great...

IMO, the MDX is a great truck...but getting the '03 is gonna be a pain since the wait is long. Definitely the GPS is worth getting. The ML is not too bad if you ask me, but I can't vouch for the build quality. The Lexus is a bit dated and underpowered if you ask me...but both the ML and RX have a smooth ride. If it were me, I'd go for an American truck...yeah, the quality may be a bit poor right now, but 0% financing can't be beat. If you want a winter beater (and something you wouldn't mind getting scratched up), the Tahoe or Yukon is pretty sweet. But if you want a smooth ride, go for the MDX.

We have a Toyota Sequoia and it takes abuse left and right. Great in the snow, toyota reliability and very smooth engine. Yep, the gas mileage is not that great but better than comparative Expeditions and Navigators. Another plus is that the handling of the vehicle makes it seem like it is smaller than it really is. Great job to Toyota for that one.

Trucks are not a great choice for winter. Their extra weight makes them unsafe for braking and turning maneuvers.
Why not just put some winter tires on your Acura? That would be more than enough for Toronto winters which means maximum 5 snow days in the whole season.
If you need the off road capability or towing capacity of a truck then go for it, otherwise get an Audi or Subaru or even a Volvo AWD sedan/wagon.
The only thing trucks do well in the winter is give drivers a false sense of security.
