Windshield Replacement
I wanted to get an idea of how much it costs to get a front windshield replaced on the CL. Mine got really scratched up somehow and it is kind of making me nuts. I've tried polishing and nothing has made it better. Are we talking $250 or is it more like $600. Keeping in mind there are not any chips or cracks its just really scratched.

So many myths about OEM glass... blah blah blah... Acura DOES NOT MAKE GLASS!
OEM quality glass manufactured by PPG will be just as good as the factory glass.
I used Harmon Autoglass harmonautoglass.com and it cost $190 installed with a lifetime warranty. Plus they will come to your home or office to do the work.

I've noticed scratches on my windshield... side windows too... I think it's from my ice scraper since the scratches are long and follow the pattern of how I scrape. I had to take out the scrapper (out of the trunk) yesterday

it is not a myth to the price of OEM glass. If you tell the glass company that you want the same glass that came in the car (with the acura logo on it) it WILL cost you about 2x has much as to get the glass without it. Also, the glass may or may not have the same quality as OEM (ie the glass company will use the supplier that they can by DEFAULT make the most money off of). when I went to replace the glass on my '89 sable OEM was $500 and aftermarket was $250. If I would have had the "insta clear" windshield it would have been closer to 1K to replace that glass.....

I'm telling you... we've been through this multiple times every year. Harmon Autoglass uses PPG glass which is the OEM supplier to Acura. It won't say "Acura" etched in the glass, but it will be the same quality/thickness as the factory supplied glass.

My point is that you pay extra for that glass to say ford, acura or whatever on it...and it may or may not be of the same quality even if it does come from the same manufacturer........
Sorta like saying all firestone tires are the same as the ones provided for the Ford explorer.....
you can say it is OEM all you want but without the OEM logo it is NOT OEM glass.......

glass is usually free if you have good insurance coverage and unless you are a cheap slapper. You should be able to do it for free if you have 100 deductable in comprehensive coverage. If you dont it should cost 100-200. not any more than that though. I have had mine replaced twice.
