Windshield Geico

So I had some pretty bad wiper haze from some old crummy wiper blades that the PO never changed. Probably a good indicator that my timing belt was never changed by her either (for those who have been following me thus far).

Anyways, I called Geico and they will send someone from Safelite to change the front windshield for FREE. I asked if its the same thickness and quality as the OEM product. She said what comes out goes right back in as far as quality is concerned. Acura Delray says we have a light green tint in our cars; they are charging $430 for front windshield? Couldn’t see it for the life of me when I was driving it for the last few days. Just wanted to pass that information on.

Any comments?

That's FL car insurance. Maybe other states. If you have full coverage they cover windshields for damage. i had a windshield done on a car years ago.
The glass is the same. Wouldn't be a concern. Just make sure there are no defects in the glass that blur vision.

I was told by my ins co that glass coverage is not offered in VA. The front windshield is so cheap though, so it doesnt really bother me. I had replaced it about a 2 years ago though.

Goes to show that are more perks living in Florida other than the sun and beaches. I will def push for OEM glass.

Fuzz- can I take the car to Delray Acura and have them put a windshield in at the insurance’s expense? It would be nice to have all the OEM parts including the seal since I know they use generic seals and moldings.

Don't think so. Ask your insurance co. But safelite does 100's of them. I really don't think your going to have any problem.

You may try claying the windshield with some clay bar & cleaning it really good. Does wonders.

I highly doubt Geico will do that because the dealer will charge more than what Safelite gets the glass for but as long as you request OEM glass they should honor it.

Just get a low to zero comprehensive deductible and if it happens then you won't pay much or anything to replace it.

Usually you are given the option when you select a premium if you want oem replacement parts (more expensive) or non oem.
