windshield ding

I've been doing long ass drives on the turnpike lately. Today on my way to work I noticed a splinter in the windshield. It's about a quater of an inch wide. Is something like this fixable?

Any recommendations? Do I need to go through insurance?

You can go through the insurance company if it's worth it. Most handle road hazard for windshield damage (if this is on you policy). But you will have to pay the deductible first.

There are two options:

1) The best type of repair uses apoxy and a laser for curing to fix small to medium dings. But ding can't be in main viewing area for driver or passenger.

2) Replace windshield.
