Windshield cracks on own???

Has anyone had their windshield replaced and find that their windshield cracked on its own? I did not have any rocks hit the glass but it just cracked!! I'm going to have to talk to the guy who installed the new auto windshield glass. I'm hoping someone who has seen this before?

Did you just wash your car? Sometimes if the glass is really hot and you spray really cold water on it, it'll do that.

i had a windshield replaced that cracked the next day. I took it back they said that sometime the manufacturer doesnt get the curve of the glass 100% perfect, so when the adhesive finally sets up it cracks the glass. They replaced mine no questions asked.

The glass installer didn't believe me when it cracked w/o chips or any kind of dings on the windshield. He is like now going back to his supplier to get me a new windshield. Does anyone know what brand is better? APTech or PPG? It looks like all the glass on my car is made by APTech.

i think this is might happen but most windshields are built to withstand this stress crack. it should be replaced by the manufacturer or glass shop at no cost.

It's a stress crack, it can happen t a new glass or old. It happened to my MilleniaS a while back when they installed a new glass on my car, a day later it cracked w/o rock impact.

The stress crack usually starts at the edge on the glass and progress inward, w/o any evident of impact. Glass installer should/will replacel w/o questions asked. This is due to some % of glasses w/ defect that can't handle the stress.

Whenever I replace my windshield, I always ask for an OEM windshield...on my Integra, it took less than a week for them to get one and they replaced it under insurance. After market glasses are alright, like PPG, but there's nothing that will fit more perfect than one that was made for your car.
