Windshield cracked. Where to get replacement?

A couple of months ago, some unknown asshole hit the middle of the extreme left side of the windshield and it caused a small crack at that time. But now, due to road conditions over the past couple of months, the crack has grown much bigger and has gone all the way from the left side to the middle of the windshield. It is now starting to move down and I'm afraid that the windshield could shatter pretty soon.

Do you guys have any recommendations on where I can get the windshield replaced? I don't think the crack can be repaired. How much would a replacement windshield usually cost?

Since I have an opportunity to replace the windshield, are there any special windshields out there with some gee-whiz optical/polarization/glass technology that I have never heard of?

I would love to hear your recommendations. Thanks!

I just had my windshield replaced at a shop in N. VA for $210 + tax, just under $220 total. This was for brand new PPG glass. He reused the trim (which saves you $80). American Glass wanted $345 to replace my windshield, what a rip-off!! The trim after the window was installed and taped looks fine, and is flush to the glass and body. With all the rain we've been getting, it must have been installed right for it would have leaked by now-

There was no option for different types of glass. I have onstar, which runs a larger cord and mirror to the glass, and still the same glass used on an '01 fit. If you want to give your windshield a different appearance and a different heat rejection property, try 50% bronze tint head to toe.

Any recommendations for a shop in Northern California?

acura_service, what did you mean by "turn it on comprehensive"? Are you talking about insurance? Having a windshield replaced by insurance won't affect my rates? Thanks!
