Windshield Crack....

Well, driving down the highway a big friggin rock kicked up and put a small glass spider in my windshield. It has since rained and it hasnt gotten any larger. Is there anything on the market that I can fix this with to get it thru inspection or do I have to replace the whoole thing? Damn Rox!

RE: Do you have to fix it? Answer: depends on the particular state law. If the crack is in your line of site, you probably will get a bust (but I don't know for sure).

Here is a link:

If you're interested and actually in PA, here is the link and googled info:

"(G) There are any defects in acute area of windshield,-center of critical area on driver's side of vehicle directly in driver's normal line of vision, 8 _ inches wide and 5 1/2 inches high-or discolorations or hazardous cracks to front, right, left, or rear of driver which would interfere with driver's vision. See Appendix C"

Its ok my windshield is in a million pieces on the side of the road right now, along with two more of my windows

Your insurance should have glass coverage, Mine allows up to 2 new ones a year if the rock chip is in visible view, or has potentional to spread. Check that, it's a simple process they come to your hosue and do it takes 30 mins. Had it done about a month ago

crack will not spread during cold weather, but in hot times the crack could expand/travel. Look for a place that fixes windshields. It can be fix for about$45 and normally warranty it for the length of ownership of car.

Hope they won't tag the cost of your wind shield to your insurance premium next year.

Cracked windshield

Don't know how big your's is. Rule of thumb is if it's smaller than a quarter, it passes inspection. To keep it from spreading, put clear nail polish on the crack. In two years, mine never spread. Good luck! CPR
