Wideband O2 Question.

With the TechEdge setup, must you add a new sensor bung in the downpipe or can you replace the factory primary O2 sensor?

Thanks.

I'm almost positive with any O2 sensor you need a seperate bung for it, but I could be mistaken. Im pretty sure the car would start throwin codes if it saw the stock sensor missing.

I was told this weekend by an RSX-S owner that their stock primary O2 sensor reads wideband.

I have the Techedge.

You need a seperate O2 bung.

The Techedge has a narrow-band output so that you can replace your primary O2 sensor with the Bosch sensor without welding on an additional bung.

Any reason why Scalbert decided to add an additional bung on his set up?

Not sure.. maybe he didn't trust the Techedge narrow-band output?!? I ran a third O2 bung myself.

Are you guys looking at using building the DIY unit?? If not then there are alternatives. The TechEdge is still a fine unit and highly suggested, but it isn't the only one. The AEM unit looks nice and seems to work well.

http://www.aempower.com/product_ems.asp

If the TechEdge is desired in the build-it-yourself form, below is what you will need:

AU$194 2.6m WBo2 (2A0) D-I-Y kit
AU$9 7057 harness connector kit
AU$70 LD01 display kit

If you want a prebuilt unit you can use the following:

AU$520 2.6 m WBo2 (2A0) system (for 7057)

In either case you will need the Bosch 0 258 007 057 sensor. This can be purchased from:

https://www.1stvwparts.com/

I beleive the current AUD to USD exchange rate is around a 0.75 multiplier.

Take care,
Scalbert

for those that know alot about widebands, which would you take if you had the choice between the prebuilt unit 2.6 m WBo2 (2A0) system (with Bosch 7057) or the aem. i can get both for about the same price, so which one is better to go with?
I really like the aem version gauge, its alot nicer and cleaner than the techedge, plus techedge is in AU and if anything goes wrong, i have to send it all the way there!

I already have two gauges for my gauge pod so I really don't have a place to put the AEM unit. Although the AEM gauge does look nice. I think it comes down to personal preference.

I sent an email to TechEdge asking if I could get a discount if I ordered two units at the same time. Maybe we could organize a "group buy."

See if they want to come on the site and advertise... I can set something up with them.

even though i can get the techedge for less than the aem (by about 15 bucks though), i think the gauge of the aem is much cleaner and even if i werent to have a gauge pod, i would still prefer the gauge of the aem over the techedge display. the techedge seems to be a better display to put anywhere though since it is box shaped rather than circle.
