Why are truck Prices so high?
I dont know if anyone here is into trucks (4X4's) like I am. But in a year I am giving the CL to my girlfriend ( gulp ). Then I plan to get another full-sized truck for myself. I have been looking around for shits-and-giggles and cant believe the costs of new trucks.
My last ruck was a 2002 GMC Sierra 1500, Reg Cab, 4x4, Z71 w/ the 327 cu block, flare side bed, and all the power options except leather. The sticker was a little over 29,000. And now that I think about it, my CL wes cheaper than that.. Add a king cab and leather and the sport interior and you were over 33,000, for a truck.
Toyotas are expensive, even to the 4 bangers.
I even saw the new Chevy Colorado (replaces the S-10). Damn truck was 27,500 and was nicely loaded, not fully though..
I just dont get why trucks are so much money any more. Yes, they are as nice as a car and drive great, but camon, its still a truck...

my truck, a 2003 Silverado LT 2500HD Duramax Crew Cab cost almost twice what my CL did.
That said, with just as many kilometres on it as i had on the CL when I got rid of it, the truck has no squeaks, rattles, or any noises from the interior....unfortunatelly my CL couldn't say that after 4000kms.

I’ve heard that for every “Hummer” H2 they sell, there’s over 20-Grand PURE PROFIT for GM.
The standard formula is: Make it bigger with more chrome & power and raise the price.
Most of those big behemoth’s on the road make a 25-30K car sound like a bargain.

People will eventually realize how much fuel it takes to run those beast. I had a 2001 lighting and had to get rid of it because the exxon bill was rediculous.

Well, besided the fact that they are more popular now...
Trucks are now equipted like cars. Heck, back in the 40's and 50's heaters were optional on trucks.
Now you got leather seats, power windows, cruise control, air conditiioning, more compliant suspensions, stuff that really isn't needed on a work truck. Stuff that is there to make a truck more like a car. If you make a truck more like a car, guess what, it starts to cost the same as a car too
