why spend more money!?!?! if you have typeS
This is kinda of nub question...
this part is taking right from Ac site i m sure a lot of you seen it.
"EXHAUST SYSTEM >
Intake airflow is improved by 50% overall in the 3.2CL Type-S, with help from a wider 64-mm bore throttle body and a free-flow air filter. Meanwhile, a larger-diameter exhaust pipe, increased-flow catalytic converter, and ultra-high-flow-capacity dual mufflers yield a 30% increase in exhaust flow. The Type-S announces its aggressive, performance-oriented nature with a carefully tuned exhaust note, while also minimizing excessive noise at cruising speed."
So my question is ...why spend more money on Intake and Exhaust if its already tuned to be perfect by Acura engineers...I don’t think some mom-n-pop shop can do a better job in designing ultimate hardware for THE best performance.
Only thing I can think of is...better sounds?!?!? But wouldn’t you lose in performance by replacing already perfectly working system?
I guess only think that does worth changing are headers...because site doesn’t mention anything about improving that part.
I know ill get smoked for this question but...let it burn!

if every car were a monster right out of the factory .. and had all the best stuff .. people like Comptech would have no business. there has to be room to upgrade or whats the fun in it? I happen to like the smile on my face when I add a new part and I can notice the better performance .. whether it be handling with springs, or the sound and power of a CAI .. etc etc

Don't forget that they are also tuning for the best emmisions, which does not mean the best performance!
Emission standards are great for the environment but kills performance.

I with ya here. It may not announce its presence but it does kinda give ya a whisper like, "hey over here"
I heard a G35c the other day and while you can hear that one, it doesn't sound all that great.

1) noise?
2) cost saving?
3) performance?
Perhaps 1 and 2 in the case of the intake and there is a lot of power to be gained with some extra intake noise.
With the exhaust, it's a matter of how many mods you have.
The factory headers are a perfect example of how NOT to route gas flow...

not really. If you take of your catalytic converter out you will not gain much if anything at all.

TQ > MPG
Have you seen the innards of a catalytic converter? The inside is just one huge exhaust restriction. Mustangs get about 20-30hp from just removing the 2 cats and 2 resonators that are on it stock. However, aftermarket hi-flow converters only rob maybe 2-3hp a piece, which is pretty good.
