Why Oversized Filters?

Why Oversized Filters?

What is the benefit of using an oversized filter like a Mobil M1-105 vs the M1-104 that is supposed to fit our car??

supposidly better filering, more filtering media.

i noticed the m-105 lacks the anti-drainback valve. how critical is that valve?
