Why the downsize?

Why are you all putting 235/40/18's on your rims? If stock is 215/50/17 ... wouldnt you put 235/45/18's?

Also 235 seem a little wide for the cars wheel wells, isnt 225 better... If you view this, please answer.
Thanks.

People do it because they want less tire flex, but don't want to upgrade the rims itself... Plus the stock tire sucks!! why wouldn't anyboyd want to change them when they get the chance?

When I ran the 45 series, I had rubbing with my 2 friends in the back. As opposed to telling them to EAT LESS!!! I just went with the 40 series and that took care of it.

The 235-40-18 is closest to the stock size for the speedo.(0.2%) The 225 is the next closest.(1.5%) a 235-45-18 would be off more then 3%. And as far as them being too wide for the wells, that depends on the offset of the rim, not the tire.
