Why does my CL get so damn DUSTY so damn FAST???

I've got a black exterior. Yea - granted black looks dirtier more quickly and gets hotter in summer than other colors, but there is nothing sexier than a freshly waxed black exterior!!!

But for some reason, my black CL is picking up dust at a record pace! Being Spring, the tree I usually park under now sheds a lot of weird tree dust thingy-mic-jigger, so I moved it to a clear area and still picks up a lot of dust.

When I say a lot of dust, that means that I will wipe it down this morning and overnight, it will have picked up a layer of dust where I can write something on the body with my fingers!

WTF?? Is this happening to anyone else? Is it the wax I use? I'm using TurtleWax's Synthetic ICE and love it. Never gave me this problem before and I'm just frustrated having to wipe the dust off every f'king morning!

where do you live?
in my area, since it's winter->spring, there is dew in the morning, which by the time i drive the car, has evaporated and left dust/dirt on the car.

as well, i dunno if this is with the regular CL, but my trunk with a lip spoiler picks up dirt faster than any other part of the car.

solution? buy a lighter colour that hides dirt well (silver) or park in a garage.. no other way around it.

I have the same problem as you, one night i park my car on the street and it is covered with dust the next day.
Luckily i did super detail wax the other day, and so i can wipe off the dust easily without scratching my paint. I guess only way is get a car cover and put it on everytime u park

Don't know the reason for the dust attraction but I use a car cover from Acura and it seems to keep the car pretty clean for a while...

It's springtime so naturally there's going to be more pollen in the air, and the wax is probably causing the pollen to stick to the car more than usual.

If it's getting really bad, invest in a cover. They're really useful in the winter/rain too

It's a design flaw with the CL. They issued a TSB for it.

Holy Shitamole.

Allergies totally own me every Spring and now I got to wake up in the morning, sniffly and sneezing, and wipe crap off my car that causes my allergies so they can be all flying in the air and going up my nose???????????????????????

I will sell my Cl and get a Toyota Prius. At least that car won't attract dust ... I mean, it's a HYBRID, AFTER ALL, right?

You need to adjust the magnetic surface tension (MST) of the paint job. Ask your dealer about it. Its not that difficult. Have them set it at about 5.68 hz.

My dealer said I can't pay cash to have my MST adjusted. I can only trade in my warp drive and death star for that service. It's like their secret menu ... kinda like In & Out.

Or improve drag?

Pick up one of the small California Car Dusters. They sell them at Autozone, etc for like $7. I have one I keep in my car, works great. Doesn't scratch, traps the particles so it won't just push the dust around the surface.

My Aegean blue turns green a lot lately because of all the pollen down here in SC right now. Pain the ass!

Don;t have a dust problem here, but do have a water spot problem from hard water. At least I have a ton of Zaino coats to protect it.

I have heard that most spray on touch up detailer's attract dust.

rubbing the car too much when buffing will cause it to produce static.

So how does one wax without buffing?

I can't remember what I read a while back but there is a way to somewhat "ground" the car so when you do buff off wax and such it does not create that static that will attract as much dust.
