Why did Comptech raise prices again?

Headers are up to $1250, Exhaust is $666.

Weak.

Break down simple style for the non-eco majors. Demand and supply yada-yada... If they are increasing the price it probably has to do with the arrival of the 03 CL. Being that it is more targeted to the racer in all of us by having a stick, and a little more hp(it does have more hp? right). Anyway those getting the new car are going to want to make it even faster(wanting heads), thus increasing demand, causing a shift in the price level. Besides comptech is a bast@rd anyway. Way overpriced just cause they have backing by honda. The only hope is that competion will drive the market price down. I know they probably make the best product for our car, but hopefully when warpspeed, and greddy, or whoever make heads for our car it will hurt their business and make them drop prices.

I guess because they believe that it would not hurt their sales quantity and increase revenue at the same time. Also, no serious competition.

Well, I didn’t think they were worth it BEFORE and I really don’t think they’re worth even MORE now.

I hope someone comes out with something else for about 750 bucks.
Not that I’ll run out and buy them, but it would be nice to see the competition.

Kind of like when AMD made INTEL wake up and smell the coffee.
Remember when prices dropped like 50-percent in less then 3-months.

Then AMD couldn't meet supply as usual and ended up losing most of that market share they had gained..

No, they knew that ever since they released it, otherwise the headers woulda been around $800, not $1100.

ps - for all your economics gurus, i wasn't asking for the reason behind the increase, it was a rhetorical question. Comptech has always been overpriced. I was just making note of their latest increase. Next time I won't post it in question form.

Actually, the HP is the same....260hp.

I agree with everyone above. Once the competition comes out with products which are supposed to be happening... their price will drop. Then again, it really depends on what type of gains the competition shows. If Greddy puts out a header for $750 put it only puts down 17hp peak... then the extra $500 for the CompTech won't look so bad... but at least there will be a choice.

The whining about header pricing is hilarious. Just buy another brand, Oh that's right, no one else is making them. Just keep waiting for Warpspeed , They should be available by the redesign !

there company insurance was probably raised along with health care, electricity, gas, maybe they lease there building and the lease was renewed with a higher price, material cost increases ? - could be lots of reasons

Because the world will end if we all don't get aftermarket headers.

In my CL-S, but even with the Comptech headers you won't be killing anything important.

If I wanted to be one of the fastest cars around, I would have gotten a used Supra or a new Camaro SS and modded either of those. (With a similar total expenditure, btw.)

Besides, who would I be slower than, you? You don't even live near me. Moot point.

So if you don't care about going fast, why do you give a rip if they raise the price their headers?

faster != fastest
I got my car for a comfortable ride with some performance. I can always use more performance, but not when it's overpriced.

I don't have to get them, but I would if they were a reasonable price. To see them going the inverse of reasonable is ridiculous.

Hopefully Greddy and Warpspeed will both come out with headers for our car so that Comptech will be forced to drop the price on theirs. Then again, I'd just buy the Greddy ones anyway because they're at least as good quality-wise and they'll almost definitely be cheaper.

I'll just be satisfied being faster than you, you're not that important !
