Why am I seeing so much boost on my car? Getting worried here.
Well most of you guys saw my thread about the belt tensioner getting destoryed. It was replaced last week and a new belt was installed. By Saturday the belt was slipping a little. I was losing boost near redline (backing off to about 4.5psi) and I could hear the blower whine changing tone higher and lower, higher and lower.
Well I stopped by Tischer Acura today to have them tighten the belt just a little more to correct the slippage. The belt didn't jump off the pulley at all, it was just slipping a little at high RPMs.
Well about 25 minutes after I dropped it off they were finished (I love not having appointments, showing up, and being out the door in under 30 minutes). Lenny the Service Manager went out for a drive with me and I wound it out through 2nd gear. At redline I hit 7.5psi! WTF!?! Before I had only ever seen 7psi every now and then, usually right between 6.5 and 7psi, but today it definitely hit 7.5psi. So I slowed down and floored it again from about 4k rpms. Again 7.5psi.
Now I had to use a larger belt for this pulley, unlike 99% of the rest of the S/C guys out there. The only other person I currently know that needed a new belt with the HBP was derelict who ordered his pulley shortly after I did.
Is it possible that Comptech altered the design slightly; even if they didn't realize it? Made the pulley slightly larger? Most people only see 5.5psi with this pulley and i'm seeing 1.5-2psi MORE than that with identical setups.
I'm worried how much boost the car will see with the new pulley on the S/C shaft with the I/C setup. I might just leave this pulley on the car. The I/C pulley combination is only supposed to see 8psi. Well i'm almost there!
I need to install my wideband ASAP, although I haven't heard ANY detonation. Fuel pressure is at 80psi at redline; 95psi at 4000 rpms and slowly backs off to 80psi.
Any ideas?

COME AT ME BRO!
did you try to contact comptech and ask them what the deal is? they might have a little more insight on your problems seeing as how they make the parts.

Okay thanks. It usually is between 6.5 and 7psi under WOT. Today is the coldest day that i've really gotten on it.

The blower efficiency increased in the cooler temps and so does boost.

Remember, I posted a similar concern a couple weeks ago. I had just 'rehooked' up my boost gauge while installing the fuel gauge and thought it was just out-o-whack. I was seeing anywhere from 7-8.5 psi near redline for 2nd and 3rd gears. Never got 4th to redline to see if boost got that high . I've noticed boost gets up there when it's 50 degrees or less outside. Are you running a UR crank pulley? I was thinking my increased boost was do to the 12v UR crank pulley possibly being a little larger than the stock crank.
My IMRC is disconnected too. Haven't heard a PING since.
