Raced a 330Ci

A good friend of mine owns a 01' 330Ci auto, and since there was not much to do today we double dated and went to the movies. On the way back, we both got a red light and the street was empty. I din't think that he was going to punch it, but i prepared anyways, i took the vsa off, put it on SS mode and i "power braked it". As soon as we got the green light, i punched it and got really bad traction, i had bad wheel spin and he had about a car lenth on me, when i hit second i was closing the gap, and by the time hit third i was right on his door and closing fast, as soon as i passed him by the bumper i let go of the gas. There was a car in front of me and we were already doing about 70 mph on a 45 mph street. Plus my girl was bitching. Anyway, we are planning to do it again in the street legal races on our local track. (California Speedway) Getting caught racing here is Cali is a big deal. My car is completely stock (for now) and the tires are POS.

BTW can i fit 245's on my stock rim?

good kill

For tires on stock rims, go with 225/45 or 235/45 as alternatives.

with lighter wheels and better tires you'll do better with traction

Yes... all stock. i am planning to get some headers before i hit the track, and get me some good tires. Im thinking of going with some 225/45/17 Yokohama avs es100 for now, and go wider and better tires once i get some rims.

Does anyone know what the widest tire i can fit, given that the rim will allow it? ie 255/50/17?

Dude, 255/50 is fucking huge. That would stick out beyond the fenders. And you'd get laughed at cause you car would loook

Stick with 235 or 225.

lol I love how wide tires look, i want to go as far as i can without sticking out of the fender. 235's will do then.

I'll post some vids when i go to the track.

Nothing wrong with a little or in you! Although 255 would be a little retarded looking!

I assume he was auto as well right because a stick would most likely beat an auto CLS from a dig? I quickly ran a 330ci a while back and beat him but I have headers and icebox. It wasn't a hard launch but we were going from two to one lanes and both punched it.

That is correct, he is auto. We both had one person in our cars. Last year, when i had my stick mx6 v6, i hit 15.8 with an intake and a catback at 88 mph (my 60' was bad), and his bimmer hit 15.6 at the drag. I don't remember his trap speed but i know it was hot day.

Yeah, im gonna stick with some 225's, maybe when i get a more "exotic" car, i'll put some nice wide tires. I was actually pretty amazed that BMW come w/ 245's in the rear stock.... (w/ sport suspension)

I've seen 245's on stock CL-S wheels, it looked a little big, but not horrible.

I wish there were more fast import cars around here. All there are is SUV's and domestic muscle.
