to similar

the cl was to similar to the tl. was not cost effiecent to make two of the same cars. if they kept making the cl it would compete with the honda accord v6 two door and that would be stupid because its the same company

I have to concur that this is the best answer. The sales just never took off and the CL was not that popular a vehicle in the eyes of most of the general public, even though it was (and remains) a terrific piece of engineering. C&D almost ranked it even with the BMW 330ci, knocking off points from the CL for its bland styling - surprisingly, they didn't really hold the fact the CL was FWD against it.
