who's interested in ported heads??

hey guys,
my brother works at m2racing... they do 5 axis CNC porting of heads and intakes... they are one of the top porting shops in the U.S... they were actually chosen by BRODIX to do all of their porting work... well now they are looking to get into the sport compact/import car end of the business and they are interested in possibly doing some work on the 3.2 heads for our acuras if the demand is out there... or if it is even worth it???

how many of you guys think you would be interested???

i am working on getting a pair of heads for them to do some R&D work on, so if anyone has any, please let me know

if anyone has any input or comments on porting of the acura heads, please let me know...

Thanks

this has been visited many times. And has been done already with negative results. Although i'm not sure if it has been tried and tested on a supercharged 3.2

The FI setup would benefit greatly i feel by the port and polish, on a NA i don't believe it would help at all as people have shown when they have tried.

This is from a guy that did head work for a living (Ex- Cylinder Head Engineer for Ford/Roush Racing)

"I spent eight years as a cylinder head engineer for one of the big three and I will tell you that unless you are going to do some major modifications to a Honda engine, port and polishing the heads would not gain anything. Honda cylinder heads are some of the best cylinder heads for performance straight from the factory. I have a friend who works for Edelbrock and they were seriously investigating in making after market cylinder heads for Honda engines and after it was said and done they decided they could not improve upon the design enough to justify the investment. So they just stay with the factory heads. The biggest thing that is overlooked with porting and polishing heads is you might improve your flow numbers but you might kill the swirl and tumble in the port. This will cause you to lose power especially in a fuel injected engine. Also should never do major head modifications without modifying your cam profile. The change in flow pattern in the head needs a change in the cam to gain the full benefit of the port and polish. But with the car save your money and leave the heads alone."
