Who's had trouble with their factory cd player??

For a few months now, my CD player has been acting up. I have 6 discs in, and it keeps flashing Er-E1, it finally spit one of the discs out. I'm learning that maybe the deck doesnt like burned discs. I recently took everything out to just pull the deck out, what a nightmare that was. Practically had to remove all of the center console. I reset it, and it worked for a week, now its back to Error. Anyone know whats up or had this happen?

Common problem. Time to get a new CD player. There was a TSB on it. I had 1 replaced under warranty for this.

man i had mine replaced...and now the new one still works well but every time i start the car, the first cd will start to play well and then start skipping....i'll have to eject the cd and reload it and it will play fine with no skips at all...kinda weird...i was gonna buy a cd cleaner and see if that helps...other than that just deal with it till i get a tv...

crappy cd player

Er-E1.
I've had the same problem with mine-- constantly giving Er-E1 when loading/unloading disks. I brought it up at the dealer's right before my warranty expired, and they claimed it was "burned disks" and basically ignored my complaint--
Well that didn't sit very well with me, so I made sure to explain that the problem wasn't resolved and that my concern was ignored on the online survey, and I got a call back the next day offering to replace the deck.

I have a disc in there that won't eject. Every time I try to play disc 6, it gives me Er-E1 and does not allow me to do anything. It eventually goes to the next disc, but I don't know when or if I will ever get that cd out. I think my problem stems from the magazine.

If you are considering getting a new cd player, consider getting an i-pod interface cord. It is reasonably priced (compared to a price of a new cd player) and will offer quality sound.

have you tried to clean it with a cd lens cleaner, cause thats all that was wrong with mine. You might have to do it a couple of times depending on how dirty the lens is.

My cd player imploded . Ere1 or whatever is says , and I had to drag my cd's out , but it wouldnt admit they were gone . I took everything apart like you did and tried to fix it and gave up . they are 130 plus 15 shipping on ebay from some store that always has em . not bad considering 650 new .

If I switch to radio mode I get ER-E1 when I try to switch back to CD mode, so I avoid the radio which I never play much anyway. For weeks I just kept pushing and holding the load and eject buttons, and it would fix. Now all I have to do is touch the slot door with a pen and it fixes. Kinda quirky.

I do not believe it is due to burned discs. Just a dealer excuse. Some who put paper labels on CDRs did have problems. I use both CDs and CDRs with no labels.
I have no faith that a dealer replacement (which would be a factory refurb) would not have the same problem.

My only problem with the CD player is the light. the light doesnt come on sometimes (like once in 30 times). first time it happened i thought the light bulb burned out, but i figure if i turn the engine off and restart it, it will work again.

I'm on my second CD changer and I have had all the same problems mentioned above. In my experience there are some CD's that are more likely to get stuck the CD's that aren't smooth on top usually always get stuck. For those when I press eject I also hit it on the side when the door opens and it will come out but if I don't hit the CD player on the side it won't come out and then the ERROR message comes up.

There is nothing wrong with the CDs (unless you have labels on them), it's the player. Mine was replaced well out of warranty as a "good will" fix. The CD player/radio is an Alpine unit, only the amp & speakers are Bose. It's a very common and well know problem with these units, which is why the dealers just swap them out if you complain.

Mine gives me the error message when I switch between discs more than once or twice in a few minutes. It usually resets if I shut the car all the way off and let it sit for ten or fifteen seconds. How long does the warranty cover the head unit replacement?

This shit just happened to me today. I have 6 discs in the player. When I tried to eject one to replace it with another it just wouldn't come out. I messed around with it and now it acts like it ejected the damn disc and says INSERT but the damn disk is STILL in there!!!!!

I'm going to the dealership first thing in the morning. I'm bringing a sleeping bag with me and some jerky treats because I know it's going to take all day for these bums to even get to my car let alone actually service it.

If you have some warranty left, just take it there; they'll give you a brand new HU for just the cost of the deductible.
I took my car to the dealer and set up an appointment for them to check it out. i went back a few days later, they took it and gave me an 07 TSX loaner, which was sick, and now i'm getting a brand new head.

My car is a sentient being!

Son of a bitch!!! For two days I messed around with my CD changer trying to get it to work. I pressed and held buttons, I turned the ignition on and off, I inserted and ejected cassettes, I whopped the console on the side, I turned the whole HU on and off with the ignition on. I fucked with it while driving and fucked with it while parked - nothing happened but the same damn thing: ER-ER1 BLAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!!!!!!!

This morning: I scheduled an appointment with my Acura dealer the previous day to bring the car in at 7 this morning. JUST as I turned the key in the ignition the CD changer starts shuffling the CD's!!! All of a sudden THE CD CHANGER SPITS OUT ONE OF MY CDs!!!! It's like it knew I was taking it to the dealership to get looked over over something! Like when a dog senses it's about to go to the Vet and it starts trembling and shaking - fucking weird. But get this: I've been playing burned CDs in my HU forever - why the hell it decided to start hiccuping now I don't know. Looking at this as an opportunity to save the rest of my CDs before the damn thing tried to eat what was left I rushed and ejected the rest of my CDs from the HU. Okay, cool (and yeah one of the CDs was a burned CD) so I decide to take a chance and stick a regular CD in the changer. IT WORKED FINE!!!

Okay, so I decide to run over to the dealership anyways just to see what jargon the dude was going to drop on me. He told me he's had a few cars come in with the same problem. There's only two choices: Replace the whole HU or have the HU taken to a local audio shop that specializes in unsticking the HU. I'm thinking to myself, damn I can get this HU fixed without having to go through ACURA and shit out hundreds of dollars and wait for a six month turn around? COOL!! But I thought to myself, nah. fuck it. I just won't stick anymore burned CDs in my changer.

I have the same issue with my CD changer...it gets jammed when I try to eject a CD with a paper label! It loads just fine, and plays great....but when it tries to eject it, it jams! I have really skinny needle-nose pliers in the car just for this purpose. At least its getting jammed where I can see it and grab it with the pliers or tweezers! A real pain...so now I never put in a CD with a paper label on it. So far, so good.
