who would win 1/4.. TLS(I/H/E)vs 02Max(Nos/20inRims)
Me: 03 TLS.. check sig for mods
Him: 02 Auto Maxima (Nos 50/75shot, intake, y-pipe, catback exhaust, 20inch rims)
we might be headed to the track this weekend. im thinkin i will hit mid 14's and he'll get low 14's. what do you guys think?

it takes some practice to get it down. what mods do you have? sticky tires, springs & shocks help a great deal.
at the track I'll usually launch 3/4 throttle (or 1/2 depending on how the track is prepped) for 1/2 a second and then nail it. if traction is good then brake torque it and let her rip.

Even though I have a 2k2 Max (and may sound biased), the Max should take this one. You have some high-end mods (AEM CAI, Comptech) but NOS and a Y-pipe give the VQ35 Maximas a decided edge.
With stock wheels (17"), its conceiveable that he could run in the 13s. Seeing that some stock 2k2/3 auto Maximas have already hit 14.6X (I've done 14.72), i'd expect MUCH quicker w/Y-Pipe, intake and NOS.

with those exact mods and a 75 shot I trapped 106 in my 02 Auto Maxima...but I wasnt on 20" wheels. Is this guys name Eddie with the Maxima? If so I know who you are talking about...

Not for nothing, applying 1/2 throttle on my stock auto 2k2 Maxima still puts a smile on my face. I cant imagine when its modded.

Maxima, unless the launch is above 2.4, i would put money on the Max.
Think of it this way, both cars stock are even.
Then add the 50 or more shot and he has at least 10 hp edge to the wheels over your i/h setup. Then he also has mods too that, according to those who know max's well, will also add a good amount. The 20's slow you down, and their weight does depend, but in the end there is im guessing at least an extra 20 hp getting to the wheels, so he should at least win by a little at the very least.

If I remember correctly, the 02-03 Max have more power than the 01 max right? So if the 02-03 Max fares up pretty even stock for stock with an 01 CL-S, how does the 01 Max hold up? How about the previous gen, I think the 99's?

If well driven, a Y2k/2k1 Maxima SE 5MT could conceivably hold its own against an auto CL-S. But, IMO it has NO CHANCE against a 6MT CL-S.
As far as the 4G Maxima (95-99), rumor has it that they're quicker than the Y2k/2k1 Max despite the HP disadvantage (190hp vs 222/227hp). I'm not too certain I buy that as I havent seen any stock 5MT 4Gs at the track. And the modded ones are pretty well modified. (i.e.: Caesar's Chariot, etc,...)

bone stock with a rental 04 maxima se auto with a 14.2. im going to the track on sunday to beat my 14.4 hopefully i do. ive been practicing.. whats your best time stock in your 03 auto maxima?? im sorry i forgot.. and your right 14.4s is a mid 14 second run a low mid 14s. 14.3s start low 14s. my bro ran a 14.4 with his 03 cl-s auto with just intake and i beat him last weekend when i raced him. i have more miles on the max now so its more broken in... im shooting for 14.2s well see what happens, wish me luck. ill be happy though with 14.4s all day long

*UPDATE* my friends Max killed it!! 14.2. dam he was fast. i ran a disappointing 14.9 with my I/H/E. i was actually pretty upset at my times. i ran a 14.9 last time WITHOUT the headers and new tires. it has hot, ~85 degrees and very muggy, so that may have contributed some, but still i was pretty pissed. other friend's times, stock Type-R 15.4, WRX 14.5. friend ran his bike, 11.8. other than my crappy times it was pretty fun. now is it time for nitrous????.......
