Who makes the electrical connectors for our cars?

What company makes the electrical connectors for our car. I need a male and female connector for something, and haven't been able to find them sepretly, without buying a ton of stuff I don't need. Anyone have any ides what company makes them? Does Honda make them?, or do they farm them out?
Anyone have any ideas where I can buy them individually?

What connector are you referring to? acuraautomotiveparts.org has all the connectors associated with sensors under the hood, you just have to look through the drop down list till you find "electrical connectors (front or rear). Hope this helps.

Often they'll send "one time samples" in much lower quantities though... at least that's what I was told.

I'll just say its one none of you here have on your car, well steve for a little while.

I'll take a picture later, but its a gray rectangle with 6 pins on the bottom, and 4 on the top, 2 on the left, 2 on the right, and 2 empty spaces in the middle. It'll be easier to see with a picture.

I told you not to tell

Fine, its one for the tranny (Get, all of you have 6 speeds, Stevo is getting one, bleh it was a bad hint). I'll snap a pic later though to show you the exact one. Its part of the wire harness for the inside of the car, so its not like acuraautomotiveparts.org has it seperate.

Sorry, the pics kinda suck, but you get the idea. Does it look like one of the ones you needed Ram? I can't seem to find a connector like it on AMPs website.

I work for Tyco Electronics Automotive North America- not all the connectors are Tyco- some are Molex, some are Yazaki, FCI, and even a few Foxconn's. Price rules in Automotive supply. Sounds like you may have a hybrid, perhaps a Multilock style. Is it sealed??

Many of the Honda connectors are from Tyco Japan, and aren't stocked here. Send a picture, I'll check around. Keep in mind the terminals come in a reel, and require special crimping, etc.

Are you replacing one or modifying something??

Its not sealed. Its a multilock style I believe. Its got one large peice that snaps in on top and bottom to lock the wires in place.

I plan on making a harness that can be removed later on. I can easily complete the project without it, but I would rather not have to splice into the stock wires directly.

The pics are in the link, but if you need a better one, I can get another one later. If you can find out anything about the exact manafacturer or part # it would be greatly apreciated.

The connector is not a Tyco Electronics connector. Our guess is JST, JAE, or Summitomo origin, using a hinged secondary lock. It's not hybrid but has all the same terminal sizes, most likely a 1.5mm box and blade. Definitely Asian manufacture. May be difficult to locate here w/o buying the cable assembly from Honda or pulling it from a parts car. You can see it is selectively keyed for the application.

Hope this helps.

well, if it's a connector, why nore buy the other end of whatever it connects to and splice it to a fresh wire. then again, I have no idea what the wire consists of, but that would be a good way to rig it. try radioshack, or even do a search on google, i'm sure there are companies out there who will provide you with something.

The link I posted on page one goes to a thread about Summitomo. Siggy may have more info on the connectors that wasn't posted in the thread, so you may want to PM him...

You have been a tremendous help. I believe they are JAEs. I will take some exact measurments of the connectors tonight just to make sure though.

COntact scalabert. He can probably pint you in the right direction for those connectors since he made the PnP E-manage harnesses for the 6 speeds.

Its not possible since the radio buttons are wired to a pc board. Its not like they are simple switches with two wires coming out of them.
