why buy a beater? Cars are ment to be driven. Could you imagine being in a beater for that hour drive?

I do. My 03 has ~30,200 miles. I used to drive a 92 Camry 4-banger the same route and I've got to tell you, I'd rather be putting miles on my CL-S than doing the commute in a beater.
Truth is that since I got the CL-S with the Navi I'm perfectly fine taking the long way (less traffic, more fun) even if it means spending 10-15 more minutes on the road.

Though the 45-60 minute time is solely because of traffic in Northern VA. I've gone home from work at 2am in about 25 minutes (driving 70-75).

I live 3 blocks from work, but in 16 months I have put 39k miles on the car. I debated on getting a second car, but then I would have to deal with parking my CL all the time. Consider getting an extended warranty from someone to help out with any concerns.

I average 173 miles per day as a salesrep, but using a car like ours makes it pretty easy! And it will run forever so I don't worry.

I drive 45 miles each way. Bought mine in March 02 and now have 44k on it. I had bought a beater Accord but sold it because I missed driving the CL-S. The way I see it, 150k should be no problem for this car. I will keep it, make it my beater and by the next S2000, Z convertible or something

I drive a solid hour a day - about 1/2 of that at 85mph. I have 87k on my car. I don't think the acura is nice enough to be a garage queen. Why drive a beater 5 out of 7 days(or even a less nice car)? If I had to do it over, I wouldn't buy a brand new $28k car and put that many miles on it. A low mile used car would have been a better choice. I've thought about a weekend car, but to be honest, after driving 550 miles during the week, the last thing I want to do on the weekend is go for a joy ride.

Exactly. I drive about an hour to work every morning too, in traffic, and know it seems even longer when I'm not in my CL but in some rental.

I drive 1 hour and 15 mins each way. I drive the Integra. Makes me feel good to come home and see the TL all nice and cozy in the garage.

So far in 16 months on the Integra:

3 rock chips in the windshield
Tons of chips on the hood
Salt from the snow plows
.....

I've got a 20 something mile commute one way (it's better then the last job where the commute was 65 miles one way). I bought the CLS to be a daily driver, so it makes the trip everyday rain or snow. I drive thru Providence, RI so there's always alot of stop and go trafffic. I don't think there's a better car out there for the daily grind thru traffic

40 miles each way for me.
~31k miles since I bought my '03 new in May '02.

The CLS makes the commute better - it's quiet at highway speeds, it's comfortable. I had a '92 Cherokee before that and driving was a lot more miserable.

My commute is going down 2 floors worth of stairs. From the bedroom to the office. This for most of the past 3 years.

I do drive 45 min. one way to the airport (Ohare), once every 10 days on average.

I used to drive up to 50 miles on way of which 95% highway going 85-90 mph most of the time. That lasted for about 5 months though.

That's funny. I used to do the opposite. I worked from home for 18 months. Got old for me very quick. I mean, c'mon, how many coats of Zaino can you put on a car in a week?

I did over the summer. It wasn't so bad except that i had VERY rigid hours that stuck me right in the middle of rush hour every time, so the commute was 1.5-2 hours every day instead of the 1 it would have been had i been able to shift my 8 hour day an hour or two.

67 miles each direction, each day. I didn't buy the CL to sit in the garage (that's where the M3 is) ... except on those days when I drive the M3.

I got ~49K on my car purchased in Sept '01. I drive about 45 mins each way in bay area commuter traffic....

I know I want a beater....but maybe I'll keep drivin this car and maybe (crossing fingers) I can save up to get a garage kept car (NSX 94-96) and fix that up.

Who knows....

On the days I drive to work, it take approx 1 hour. "Luckily", I take the train most days. Taking two trains and 1 shuttle bus to/from work takes 1 1/2 hrs each day, each way takes longer but there's not as much aggravation on me NOR wear/tear on my car. Just pullout my TPR magazine, put on my MD player and chill till my stop comes.

I could NEVER drive an hour or more to work every day.
The worst I ever did for a few months was a 40-mile trip each way, but it was mostly highway and I did it in about 45 minutes.

Currently I have a 10-mile commute to/from work which is one of the reasons I only have 16,000 miles on my car after nearly two years.
