White CL 01, has differing shades of white?

I THOUGHT I had seen a past post regarding this...
to be more specific...

2001 White(taffeta) CL. (bought it new)

Are the rear and front bumpers supposed to EXACTLY match the paint on the rest of the body?

My CL looks like the shades on the bumpers look a bit darker than the rest of the body. Has anyone else realized this, or is it just me? My buddies also can see it (if they really focus on it)

Mine are like that, but not dramatically noticable, I now other TW owners have said the same thing.

My 03 CLS Anthracite is not perfectly matched between the body and front & rear bumpers. From what I understand, this is common for metallic paint. Not too sure about white paint. In my case, I only really notice the paint mismatch in bright sunlight.

werd i swear it looks like the back bumper has some serious shades that just dont get as white as the rest of the car when cleaning. I dont like washing my car cuz i always still think there are dirty parts due to it being dark spots in places........ i dunno

That's odd... my PDG paint is perfectly matched on bumpers & body. It also seems higher quality than the kinda paint I see on other cars, for some reason.

Man! why did I have to read this??? Now I'm gonna go out to my car, which was perfectly fine when I parked it, and I'm gonna see a difference in the shades paint.

MyAcuraCL2001 for posting this. It's all your fault!!!

My 99 T-White TL was like that. My front bumper was "yellower" than the rest of the car. But the body kit matched the car, not the bumpers. Than i painted the front bumper and had it blended, it matched perfectly. I have also seen tons of Taffetta White cars at the dealer that had mis matched bumpers also. White is hard to match to different materials. Thats why the pearl whites are used on most cars because it changes shades so the differences are not noticeable. On the other hand, my cousins M3's flat white matches every body panel on his car.

The Aegean Blue is the same way. It’s a little bit darker on the bumpers.
I’m told it has something to do with the “flex additives” that they put in the paint on the plastic parts.

I think all hondas/acuras do that. Even when my car was black there was a definate different undercoating on the bumpers

My nearly 2 y/o SSM had the problem, I clayed the entire car and then waxed both the plastic bumper covers and the metal....it seems to appear less mis-colored.

I saw this on a camry today as well, it was gold in color.

Ding ding ding... we have a winner. Yup, it's the flex additive. It slightly changes the color of the paint. I guess some car manufacturers have figured out how to adjust the tint to make it match all over. Obviously Acura paints everything from the same tinted paint. Obviously lighter colors show more than darker.

Goldmember.....I think the Sundance Gold CL-S has more clear coat. Ours is holding up much better, paint chip wise, than my buddies black CL-S. He's already repainted the hood due to chips. Maybe because of the limited "press release" run of 900 units, Honda wanted them to look better.
MyAcuraCL2001-paint color is never perfect between bumpers (plastic) and metal--Don't fret over it! It's normal.

I have an anthracite as well, and I SWEAR my whole car is the same color. I am super meticulous with my car and I think I would've noticed if it were different shades .. I've even had my rear bumper repainted and it still matched everything else perfectly

its the way the paint shows on the plastic compared to metal that causes the difference, nothing to do with flex

its also because the paint company acura uses's is ppg and they have alternates for that color....... so there not laway the same exact color. it also might be that you car had some minor damage and some one has repainted part of the bumper. in most cases you wouldnt be albe to tell but white is a bitch to match... you just neva know......
