I had a problem that sounded very similar. Try this post first to see if it helps.
I haven't really ever posted here but I have read up on a lot here so I hope I'm able to help.
My situation:
I drive a white '01 CL-P and have about 75k miles on it now. At about 70k I started hearing a click (or clunk, however you want to describe it) noise from the front passenger side when I stepped on the gas either from a full stop or from less than 10mph. It happened about 25% of the time when I first noticed the noise, and got worse (up to about 75% of the time) after a few thousand miles. It finally stopped, but I started to hear other noises.
I started hearing a louder click, clack, click, clack noise when hitting dips or really bumpy roads (from the same area). It sounded like metal was tapping against each other (yeah I know that can't be good). That's when I found the posting above and checked out the area.
I found a loose nut right behind the rotor. It's a nut that holds down part of the sway bar. After I tightened it, the original clicking noise came back and could find nothing else wrong.
I took my car into the dealer to get the 75k service. They lubed up the joints and stuff (which was part of the service). Drove off from the dealer and still heard the noise. About 50 miles later, the noise dissapeared.
Don't know if I still have the problem and it's just been disguised or maybe the joints just needed to be lubed.
But if I don't hear anything, I'm gonna assume nothing's wrong (knock on wood). Been like this for the past couple of days.
