What do these bulbs do? I thought your car already has Xenon lights? Does it make the Xenon much more intense, more like the BMW's?

the beam is brighter, more blue/purple in color like the bimmer or audi or even the older generation TL

Do you just need to order the bulb or is it a whole new application kit including the ballasts and everything?.. and how much is it again?.

When you turn on your highbeams, your HIDs turn on too. As far as the fogs, if you want real HIDs, you have to get the $500 or $600 kit for it. It's only like 3-5watts stock. If you don't want to pay that much, you can get the 12watt Polargs that some people have.

Just wanted to clear up one piece of mis-information always floating around in regards to our HID lights and BMW/Audi HID lights. All of our cars use the same 4300K bulbs. THe only difference is that BMW/Audi use projector lenses. These lenses distort the wavelenghts to make the bulbs appear more blue and brighter. They are brighter up close, but the light does not travel as far. Our headlights appear more white (natural) and while not as intense up close, the beams travel further. Drive a BMW with HID's and you will know what I mean.

I am not saying either method is better, but neither car has a superior set of bulbs, etc... Just different methods to display light. The 6000k bulbs are indeed different and produce a differnet color of light. I was thinking of upgrading, but I can't see the price justification right now.

The old TL and Mercedes S class have refractor headlights which is the third method.

Yea it is kinda pricey...that's why I shopped around and stubbled upon Paul Lee's groupbuy price. To save even more money, I bought the Osram that ended up saving me a total of $50 compared to what autolamps-online.com would have charged me plus I got them overnight. It took me like months before I just gave in and ordered them, but now I don't regret them at all. I wouldn't recommend going into debt to have them, but if you have money laying around, I would definitely get them. They are so cool! They light up the road nice and white, no more halogen looking yellow. From afar, they look ice white with blue. But to each his own...

Here a few pictures of the Phillips 6000k HID bulbs. I don't have stock pictures to compare, but you can probably see the difference...

So when you changed your bulbs do you open up the housing? If one is changing the bulbs would that be a good time to clear thier lights and possibly paint their housing, or is it just plug and play from the back of the housing, no opening?

Although I have not done mine, I assume that the upper cover was removed and the work was done behind the lamps. To do the other work you mention, you would need to remove the front bumper and the lamps themselves...get to work

Maybe you can use the 4100 on your fogs with the special kit of course.

That might not be a bad idea. I wonder if they sell just the ballasts.

Someone already did it, he was at PAA meet, I just never got around to speak to him. It can definetly be done, since you have the 4100k just lying around. Keep us posted.

Thanks for the compliments Nate.

Some people have said that the light output is less, but to me they "appear" to be brighter than stock. This may be a result of the 6000k color temp. I think the light output is (technically) a little less, but they seem brighter to me & everyone else I have shown them to.
